London Mayor endorses Obama:

This may be of little signifigance to those in the US electorate, but it interesting nonetheless. Interesting as Johnson is a raging right-winger who previously supported Bush in 2000, 2004 and wished him to run again in 2008. He also previously referred to black people as 'piccaninnies' and having 'watermelon smiles'.

Tell Boris to mind his own damn business. I don't mind Brits talking about US politics, but endorsments by a public figure go beyond that to out and out tinkering in the US elections, and the vast majority of Americans resent that.

They should be cast together in a comedy movie of the "odd couple" genre, that would be funny.

Sorry, I'm all out of deep political insights today.

You're right, of course, it's very bad form. Boris's minders must have been on their summer hols.

Bad Form is exactly the term I was looking for.
And it backfires. Remember the Guardian's attempts to influence the Presdential elections in favor of Kerry back in 2004?
Remember how that turned out?
And Remember how the Guardian tried to write the whole fiasco off as satire?
And on the other side of the British Political spectrum , Maggie Thachter also made a fool of herself in 1986 by trying to influence the off year elections to get a GOP majority in the house, despite advice from her advisors on American affairs that it would backfire. Result, The Gop not only failed to win the house, but lost the Senate.
And I doubt if enough Americans to make any impact in November give a rat's butt who the Mayor of London .or any Brit politician...endorses for the presidency anyway . But it's annoyning none the less.
How would Brits feel if Obama, in a year or so, endorsed Gordon Brown as PM? (I know the election system are not the same but the principal holds).

Boris said:
I am full of fire. I am like a greased bounding panther.

My legs are steel springs and every day I get out of bed and I beat my chest.
He's run out of decaf again, hasn't he?

Boris is nothing if not downright inconsistent, especially if there is political capital to be made.
