Of course he should have seen the problems coming. What did for him ?

- The ba5tard child
- The visas
- lying about the visas
- all of the above

Maybe we'll get someone more moderate now, like Ghengis Khan

The visas - if there was any truth in that he was done for.

And the fact that he badmouthed his labour party colleagues in the interviews with the biographer.

Hope he takes his ID card idea with him.

I'm afraid that there's too much cross party support for ID cards for the idea to be left to drop. After all they are completely unforgeable and will stop all terrorism, illegal immigration and benefit fraud immediately. They will of course be introduced using a computer system, which will be delivered under budget and ahead of schedule.

Bluncket? Is he the blind secretary of something I've heard about in the Danish news?

He used to be the Home Secretary and was at the forefront of the government's efforts to clamp down on our lawless society and of controlling immigration policy.

Even his choice of guide dog seems to have been made on the basis of nepotism and have involved singl mum dogs:

Lucy was replaced by her half-sister, Sadie, a black Labrador-curly-coated retriever cross, in 2003 after nearly a decade by Mr Blunkett's side.

edited to add.....

From the news reports he neither resigned nor was he pushed, it just "became apparent" during a meeting with Tone that he could no longer serve as Home Secretary

I doubt that we wil get someone more moderate. Having a right-wing home sec. is one of Bliars trump cards to appease the great Sun-reading unwashed- Whom I happen to agree with on many issues.

Unfortunately, Blunkett talked the right-wing talkbut never walked the walk.
