Anyone else hip to the idea of Bill Clinton being secretary of the UN? I heard Bob Beckle mention it and I had to admit it seemed like a good idea.

To be honest, Colin Powell in his lame duck months of secretary of state has been doing amazing work. If it weren't for that error ridden report on Iraq he gave to the UN I would say replace Kofi with Colin since Powell seems to be doing his job anyway of using an international bully pulpit.

Hell Bush, tell Colin Powell he has full immunity to do as he wishes and give him the state department for 4 more years. Powell is amazing when he is his own boss.

It would be fascinating to see Clinton in an office he couldn't possibly sully.

On the other hand, Powell has demonstrated a unique gift for convincing the UN of dubious things. Dilemma.

He didn't seem to convince them. He did however take an error ridden report to them which would be rehashed if he was seriously considered for it.

I started thinking about what would be thrown up at Bill Clinton if he was a serious contender and I think it would be derailed on the Marc Rich pardon.

Its a shame too, both of these men are capable leaders and the UN could use either one of them to get its house in order.
