For those who are interested, a link to the BMJ's obituary of Benveniste

I always find it amazing how so many scientific mavericks can become cognitively-dissonant, self-deluded types who exhibit complete-faith-in-what-they-do-no-matter-what, develop a total rational-insight bypass, possess large dollops of self-serving smugness while displaying intellectual/moral superiority, and then round it off with such a sense of bewilderment and unjust victimisation when the proverbial hits the pan.

It is also unbelievable how once the masses of sychophantic accolytes have found their emperor, they persist in admiring his sartorial elegance, even when the rest of the rational world is screaming at them that he is stark bollocks naked.

I blame the internet and the Daily Mail myself (but then where would we be without them?).

Deetee- There's something bothering you. I can tell.

Go on, let it out.

Hm.....I read somewhere that Benveniste was not an orthodox scientist who suddenly `saw the light' and embraced homeopathy, but had actually been involved in it for years. Now where was that?
