GB introduced BS (hah) by saying, "And here is the star of the new hit movie..."

So I knew that was going to set the tone for what followed. I only made it five minutes into the program.

I am horrified that people like this can be so influential.

I'm impressed that you could take five minutes of Glenn Beck. I can rarely take thirty seconds of that moron.

I wish someone would explain to me how that idiot has his own show. He's quite possibly the worst interviewer I've ever seen, coupled with a total and complete lack of brains. Do people actually watch that fruitcake?

I think CNN has decided that in order to compete with FauxNews they need more arrogant, self righteous, ill informed blowhards of their own.

It's at 4:40 if you can't stand the rest.

Some other goodies:

Beck: "you are like the smartest guy I know"
Stein: "you know, I am"

Beck: "they are so closed minded... (atheists)"

Stein: (comment about Richard Dawkins) "a very good looking guy"

It's one of the mathematical conundra... two half-wits still make only one half-wit, when combined.

Okay, combine this statement with Ben Stein in schoolboy shorts... time to start making gay jokes over the Internet at Stein's expense :D

LOl, I really wouldn't care if he was gay or not except to be amused when they say something that might be construed that way and then fall all over themselves to remind us of of how manly and straight they are.

On these two guys, if they were here we'd probably call them trolls. They believe in higher ratings and book sales, not intelligent design.

If you like the Glenn Beck footage, you'll really get a kick out of his interview on the Trinity Broadcasting Network (gee, think that's a Christian network/website?).

Click on this link, then click on the "Behind The Scenes" tab, and then select the April 21, 2008 episode. Keep in mind, it is a Christian program that spends 30 minutes with BS.

If you're looking for the best part of the interview, skip ahead to about 28:30, where BS drops this priceless quote:

"Love of God and compassion and empathy leads you to a very glorious place, and science leads you to killing people."

Beck: "they are so closed minded... (atheists)"

closed-minded adj Refusing to believe in illogical nonsense that has well-documented provenance of fraud and mountains of scientific evidence against it.

Hmmm. Learn something new every day.

Ben Stein has completely jumped the couch...

Not that I consider Expelled as having enough of an impact on scientific knowledge that I would bother suggesting a boycott because of it; the other day my contacts were killing me and I stopped in the pharmacy to pick up some eye drops.

I wasn't sure which brand to get, but all I could hear was Ben Stein's voice recommending Clear Eyes... so naturally I picked up something else. You have to wonder if a company flinches when they realize their primary spokesperson has gone off the deep end..

fwiw, make sure you get some drops that are specifically made for contact lenses -- I don't believe Clear Eyes qualifies.

But that underscores just how powerful advertising is.
