I belong to a Unitarian church which does its best to expose people to as wide a variety of religious beliefs, very frequently in the form of classes.

Here's the latest one that floored me.

Becoming More Psychic Through Your Angels

Workshop participants learn:

--the four ways that our guardian angels, spirit guides, totem animals and other Divine helpers communicate with us

--how to discern Divine guidance from our ego's messages of fear

--sure-fire ways to safely communicate directly with Spirit through their angels and guides to get accurate guidance, help, and comfort

--how to clear blocks of ego and fear

--about Archangel Michael and the "Fab Five" that can help us in every aspect of our life, just for the asking.

Wendy Eidman is a certified Angel Therapy Practitioner (tm), Medium, and Professional Spiritual Teacher, certified by Doreen Virtue, PhD. She lives near Madison, Wisconsin, and is the author of the forthcoming book How to Cope When God Says, "Go!" coming out in the spring of 2006.

Sign-up during coffee hour following the Sunday service. Make checks payable to First Unitarian Church.
Anyone heard of this or Wendy Eidman?

Angel eye for the atheist guy???
 Never even noticed that.

Unfortunately, my wife won't let me go to the class. She's afraid that I will laugh out loud during it (and she's right to be concerned). Plus, I don't want to give the woman any money.

Sounds like the drivel the teach at the Learning Annex. I don't know if the Annex is nationwide, but they rent space from the U of Minnesota here in Minneapolis and teach a wide assortment of woo crap.

If it didn't cost so much, I would love to go to one fo their "Angel Therapy" or Chakra classes and unload on the "professor."

I may just decide to have a little fun, and find out where they are holding the classes and arrange some "Dvine Intervention" during the class with a 4,000 watt PA system in the crawlspace above the ceiling. It would be fun to have God tell them they're buying into BS.

And who does the certifying of a certified angel therapist?

...As a child, Doreen was a natural clairvoyant, seeing and conversing with what many people call “invisible friends.” But this natural gift and ability was little understood by the young Doreen and her family, and was the cause of teasing by her friends. Consequently, Doreen learned to deny her abilities, effectively shutting them down before she was mature enough to fully appreciate them. But on July 15, 1995, Doreen’s personal life and her career, marked by exemplary but conventional success, would be irrevocably altered by an incident that is nothing short of miraculous.

Doreen had been ignoring her angels’ guidance to become a teacher of mind-body-spirit issues, so when an angel warned Doreen that her car was going to be stolen on that fateful July afternoon, Doreen ignored him. After all, her habit of arguing with and ignoring the angels was deeply ingrained by then. Despite this, the angel did not abandon Doreen in her most dire moment—as she was parking, two armed men, intent on a carjacking, brandished weapons and physically accosted the unsuspecting Doreen. The voice spoke to her again—it was loud, distinctly male, and it instructed her to scream with all her might. This time she listened, and her life was saved by passers-by who became alarmed and sent her attackers running....(from Doreen Virtue's website)

These people are out there making important decisions about other people's lives. I find that very very scary.

The IIG West group went to one of their classes to debunk it. Read about "Spoonbending" at this link.

Firstly, that's hysterical.

Secondly, this sounds like a very similar offer to the JREF prize. I am encouraged more people offer this test. I've been through the links on that page, but forgive me for being obtuse, how can I learn more about his society and how to donate?

TEA: Nevermind, I found it. thanks.
