A fascinating piece of research that is incredibly well presented:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/4218740.stm

More than 1.1 million people moved to Britain in the decade to 2001, research published by the BBC suggests.

Figures show just over half of the UK's population growth in recent years can be attributed to immigration.

The most extensive assessment of migration ever produced shows 7.53% of people living in Britain were born overseas - up from 5.75% in 1991.

It is about immigration to the UK over the last decade or so.

Some interesting facts:

The population of Britain, excluding Northern Ireland, rose by 2.2m in the 10 years to 2001 - an increase of 4%. Just over half of that rise, some 1.14m people, comprises people born abroad.
