A decision is imminent from White House chief of staff John Kelly on whether Steve Bannon will keep his job, according to administration officials with knowledge of the situation:

...

Bannon, who has run afoul of Trump in the past, is now suspected by the president of leaking about his West Wing colleagues. And Trump resents the publicity Bannon has been getting as mastermind of the campaign.

I hate to say it but Bannon has some good points, especially on North Korea.

Bannon getting fired and (officially) returning to running Breitbart would be lit. He would not take it lying down.
Depends on what his endgame is.

He's part of the alt-right. He may think getting fired is OK if it gives Drumph a little more breathing room in order to further the cause of racism.

"Hey look! I fired Bannon! Look at that while I bring i a law stopping minorities from voting!" (Meanwhile, Trump and Bannon set up a hot-line so that Trump can get instructions.

When politico or the hill run with staffers saying the craziest things about trump's behavior, I wish they would follow up and ask why they work there. "Because I'm the so in law" probably accounts for a good portion of it but I wonder about the others.

One of two things:

They see this as their chance to obtain power and institute policy they like.

or

They see it as their duty to protect the country from the orange turd.

From what I read those "good points" are what's referred to as "Common Sense" among the rest of the world. He gets no points for that.

Common sense that a lot of people don't have.

I'm not 100% sure that Hillary would have that common sense.

I expect a large amount of criticism as Trump has been cowed to the cuckservatives and abandoned economic nationalism. Bannon wants a white Christian ethno-nationalist state and Trump has only been delivering on the bigotry. Bannon's economic views are more closely aligned with the Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren and Sherrod Brown wing of the Democratic party and that's not where the administration's economic agenda is heading.

Sometimes supporters do get asked. Generally they support some of his ideas, just not the personal stuff that goes along with it.

I suspect its a combination of:

- They are racists themselves. Their main concern is not that "OMG Trump is a racist", their main concern is that "OMG he's actually REVEALING he's a racist". But they stick around because its not easy to get a racist as a president

- Too incompetent to do anything else of note

- Fear of what Trump or his supporters might do (witness how Trump treated one of the guys who quit his manufacturing council)

He has?

Trump has already withdrawn from the TPP and has reopened NAFTA. He's also maid noises about cutting down on visas.

If it seems like Trump hasn't followed through on "economic nationalism", its probably because he's too incompetent to actually do anything.
