It's ironic that a Minnesota member of Congress, Republican Michele Bachmann, went so far last summer to declare her intention to only partially complete her census forms, and to suggest reasons for others not to comply with the census law. If Minnesota loses a congressional seat, Bachmann's populous Sixth District could be carved into pieces. She likely would have to battle another incumbent to hang on to her seat. We've noticed that her anticensus rhetoric has lately ceased. We hope she got wise: Census compliance is not only in Minnesota's best interest, but also her own.

Or maybe it will free her up for a presidential run... *fingers crossed*

Bachmann-Palin Overdrive, anyone? :)

ETA: Sorry, I got that ticket backward. And if they got everyone's favorite spoon bender to run their campaign, we could refer to the ticket as Sarah-Michelle-Geller.

Thereby setting up an excellent campaign slogan: "Slaying the vampires of the Democratic party!"

I doubt if there would be enough illegals in Bacchmann's districts or in any part of Minnesota to cause any change. It is an issue related to districts with heavy illegal mexicans.

Comprende esta ahorita, senor?

I'd call this nonsense -- as it most likely is -- except who the hell knows what kind of crazy stuff rumbles around inside Bachmann's brain-like organ? Her stated reason is paranoia of Acorn and/or something to do with the Japanese internment, take your pick.

Well, that certainly ranks as a complete non response to the point I raised.

Nice side slip into a Bachmann smear, O beginner at Alinsky Rule 11.

So she's racist in addition to being insane? This quacky Rep just keeps getting better!

So, Bachmann advising everyone (including legal residents and citizens) to only partially fill out their census or to not fill it out at all, thus under-reporting the population of her state and potentially removing representation of those people from the federal legislature is related to illegal immigration?

um....
:notm

ah I wasn't logged in!

That's how I was able to see mhaze join the "smear Bachmann" camp with his smear that she is a racist.

You may well be right. Hard to say given the, er, esoteric nature of your post.

I don't know what the Alinsky rules are, but if they enhance the experience of mocking a frothing whackjob like Michele Bachmann then sign me up!

If in the context of a typical liberal smearfest, the underlying issues are misunderstood, leaving the diligent liberal internet insulters looking stupider than stupid, perhaps it's time for me, on that topic, to simply shut up.

Alternatively, you could consider creating posts that make sense.

Unless, of course, you, Cicero and BAC are having some sort of wacky contest to create the largest quantity of unintelligible dribble.

Calling names and bailing instead of attempting to rationally explain how you think illegal immigration is somehow an underling issue?

Yeah, that'll do wonders for your credibility.

Because illegal immigrants are generally at the lowest socio-economic stratum in America?

Oh--you meant "underlying"! ;)
