On Saturday Michele had a little speaking engagement in New Hampshire where she compared tax increaes for the rich to the Holocaust

"I tell you this story because I think in our day and time, there is no analogy to that horrific action," she said, referring to the Holocaust. "But only to say, we are seeing eclipsed in front of our eyes a similar death and a similar taking away. It is this disenfranchisement that I think we have to answer to."

The generation of Americans just entering the work force now could eventually see 75 percent of their earnings sucked up by income taxes, Social Security and Medicare, Bachmann said.

They'd better get cracking, then!

She was definitely in Bachmann overdrive!

(With apologies to the very fine classic rock band.)

So do you think that the next generation will not ask questions about your support of the ridiculous spending going on?

Seems to me reasonable to think that they would, because you supported their money being spent, as recorded on the internet.

Except she is talking about taxes, not spending. And she is comparing it to the Holocaust. Do you find it reasonable that political leaders should be teaching the next generation that the holocaust was as serious as a tax hike?

It is the comparison to the holocaust that is the talking point.

She's comparing taxes to the Holocaust. That's just nuts.

In fact, what I favored was not extending the Bush tax cuts which would reduce the amount of debt future generations would have to pay.

ETA: And it's not even election season yet! "B-b-b-b-baby you just ain't seen nothin' yet!"

Well, now.

That wouldn't cover 10% of the kind of money we are talking about. So what you favored as related to the goal was pretty much irrelevant. And she's talking about the next generation's taxes that will be the predictable result of you, and your type of sliding around the problem. Oh well. Didn't expect you to answer my question. But let's note that you laughed while encouraging the spending which will have to be be paid for by the kids taxes when they grow up.

So...that's what today's liberal progressives have came to, eh? Not a very humanistic or compassionate point of view.

Back to your regular programming now. Program yourselves well.

:)

That is supposed to be an excuse for not making today's gazillionaires kick in to the general fund? I don't get it.

More humane than letting the shrieking lunatic from the lakes country have her way and let her and her owners skip out on paying their share.

Do you think they are not going to ask why your kind did not want to pay as we went?

Irrelevant to what?

The Holocaust?

As for the national debt that we pass on to future generations, tell me again how tax cuts help?

Remember, the topic here is tax rates and the Holocaust. . .or at least Bachmann's comparison of the two.

As if anyone is talking about a 75% tax rate.

As if anyone is talking about a 75% tax rate.

And even if I were (or anyone else was), it would still not be reasonable to compare that to imprisoning, starving and gassing to death people by the millions for an overtly racist regime.

So if I may continue the analogy then when tax rates were higher back in the 1980's than they are today that would make Reagan analagous to Hitler.

Damn that Reagan and his exhorbitant tax rates!
