Could someone point me to where I could get some information on the "flower remedies" other than the millions of sites that come up wanting to sell them to me? A person is touting the "Rescue remedy" on a dog forum and I'd like to add a different viewpoint, but how does one combat the "but it really works on my dog" assertion? I have MANY doubts that a tincture of flowers in a 5x solution is going to be very effective, but I don't want to just jump in and insist that she is wrong without something more than my conviction.

I imagine I'm going to get a lot of responses along the lines of "Well, DUH!" But I'll ask anyway
From the posted site
Bach thought that illness is the result of "a contradiction between the purposes of the soul and the personality's point of view

Do dogs really have the type of soul that can be at cross purposes with their personalities?

This is commonly seen on woowoo dog health sites, they typically recommend this crap for thunder anxiety and other psychological/behavioral problems with dogs. Like any other homeopathic product, it is a rip-off and won't work. Show them any homeopathy debunking literature, but don't be surprised if they discount any and all negative evidence.

There are a lot of Owners and Breeders that swear by it for their show dogs. Personally, I think it's the alcohol that calms the dog. On the Great Dane sites I belong to they reccomend doubling the dose because the dogs are so large.

One of the reasons I don't show my girl is beacause her personality is not suited for the ring. I refuse to be pressured into sedating her with alcohol (Flower remedy) before going into the ring.

Isn't the dosage only a few drops? I can't imagine that quantity of alcohol having any effect. I think the effect is purely psychological - the owners are deluded into believing that it works.

The Task Force For Veterinary Science site has an Veterinary AltMed Primer, including abstracts on homeopathy. You might also want to solicit some advice from the good folks over at ALTVETSKEPT-L.

Good luck in your other forum. I've found that pet/animal woo woos can be the most rabid (pun intended) in their beliefs

I posted some info on the dog board and have been pretty soundly ignored. Ah well, I tried.:con2:
