Just wanted to record my satisfaction with the ultimate turncoat, Judas Iscariot ever in Aussie politics, Peter Garrett, being given the boot off the front benches.
On the other hand, it sounds like such a spurious reason. Surely Rudd could have booted him just for being a **** instead of making up stuff about the insulation scheme. I find it incredible that a minister is held accountable for a technical failure, especially when Rudd took the blame personally. (At least, that's what it seems.)
Meanwhile, over our side, the pollies have been charging up their credit cards, claiming incorrect housing entitlements and generally behaving like the dishonest pricks they are, without sanction.
Is Rudd just shoring up support by getting rid of Garrett, or is there a darker reason for this?
Funnily enough, there's big trouble with our insulation scheme as well. No deaths yet, but nobody's going to get the boot for a mess which has cost ~$40M so far over what it should.
