"Intelligent Design" an Option: Nelson

Dr Brendan Nelson is the Minister for Education Science and Training. (Yes, SCIENCE).

I think somebody should ask Mr Nelson exactly what the "Theory of Intelligent Design" is. In fact I think several people should ask him.

Persons thinking that this idea is a good one might go to his contact page here . Alternatively, they might just email him here b.nelson.mp@aph.gov.au

I am too flabbergasted to say any more about this. All this time I've been thinking that this whole stupid "debate" is a USAian problem...

Edited because my gasters were too flabbered too spall properly.

The main export of the USA is culture. You get the crap (ID) along with the good stuff (Dukes of Hazzard).

I have to say, I don't know where you Aussies have been. One of the big loudspeakers for ID is your very own Stephen E. Jones:

I am aware of Jones, I had just hoped for better from our pollies.

I have e-mailed my protest from Nelson. I hope anybody from here who contacts him will keep their communication polite and temperate.

Nelson is no fool but evangelical Christianity forms a significant part of the Liberal Party's electoral base, at least one new seat in the last election appears to have been delivered by just one church.

Correct. The Hillsong Church pretty much delivered up a federal seat on their own.

Trouble is that our pollies have seen this and started to pander to the religious right. Several of the senior government ministers have taken it upon themselves to make their religious views public. This is a relatively new phenomenon in Australia.

I find it terrifying...
