Dear Henry, I have noticed a lot of your articles deals with homosexuality and pornography. Satan has certainly been successful in turning this world into Sodom and Gomorrah.

Yeah, why would anyone want a rocket they can turn off if something goes wrong?
But, why did they ever use liquid fuel for these "manned" rockets in the first place? It's much more difficult to build a liquid duel rocket motor than a solid fuel motor (ask Goddard) and the only advantage to liquid fuel (that I know of) is that you can adjust the thrust or turn it on and off. But these rockets "headed for space" just burn full blast until they run out of fuel and then drop the empty stage away and go on to the next one (theoretically).

Force of gravity weakens inversely proportional to its distance, but never completely disappears, but for practical purposes we can say that the space lab has a very weak influence from the earth's gravity due to its distance away from earth, the earth may still exert some minute pull at it, and hence every so often most satellites and space stations need correction via small rockets, hence all satellites must carry some on board fuel for this correction, hence the amount fuel for correction is what determines a life of a satellite.

Strangely when I ask biologists why an amphibian would want to evolve into lice they just sort of laugh until they see I'm serious at which point they back away slowly trying to avoid eye contact.

Or do this for a simple observation at home: attach some string to a ball at various points and just spin it in the air. And notice how all the strings stand up perpendicular to the equator of the axis you created. It doesn't matter if the spin is as slow as 400 mph, the strings are going to be slightly effected. Importantly, at strings between the equator and the pole, you'll see that if gravity is centered at the Earth's core as alleged, lightweight things that don't correct for their own motion (such as humans do) cannot stand up perpendicular and would tilt and fall over due to gravity.

One thing which troubles me about all this space technology is the exponential risk created by the extreme complexity of the fabrication and launch process. Reading about the solid fuel production process for the Ariane 5 rocket I am shocked by the number of steps involved in its creation, each one multiplying the mission failure risk. There are dozens if not hundreds of steps to produce the fuel. If any one step goes wrong, if the proper thickness or homogeneity of the solid fuel is not achieved, then that one, single, failed step will jeopardize the success of the entire mission. If we include every component of the creation from scratch to launch of a rocket, then we could be considering tens of thousands of steps, the success of the mission depending on the proper completion of each one - which begs the question: at what point does it become statistically impossible for a rocket launch to be successful?
