The Sir David Attenborough quote in Swift reminded me of one of my favorite Monty Python songs, "All Things Dull and Ugly". I'll just copy the last verse:

All things scabbed and ulcerous
All pox both great and small
Putrid, foul and gangrenous
The Lord God made them all.

Such is your fate when your great-great-great- ... -great grandparents eat apples.

when I look at this world, I see the beauty of nature, slowly evolving over time in order to survive

when I look at religions, I see a self-sustaining structure that fears change in order to survive

So you haven't heard about the wasp that paralyses a caterpillar, injects its larvae into its paralysed but conscious body, and flies off leaving the larvae to slowly and gradually eat the caterpillar alive from the inside out?
