I work at a local daily newspaper and we publish both crossword puzzles and horoscopes alongside the comics.

The last week, we lost our subscription to the crossword puzzle service and the horoscope service so we have been running archives of them to fill in the space. As you might guess, the people that did the crossword puzzle on Monday started calling in on Tuesday inquiring why the answers to the crossword puzzles were wrong, why they didn't match up. Again the calls started coming in on throughout the week.

The funny thing is, I have been running archived versions of the horoscopes, yet no one has called in to report inaccurate horoscopes. Why would this be? Wouldn't SOMEONE out there realize that either a) this had ran before a year or so ago, or that b) their day went so horribly wrong or so grandiosely great.

The greatest moment was when one of our advertisers, a pyschic/tarot card/astrologist/whatever, who happens to share the office in the same building stopped me in the hallway to mention that the crossword puzzles were wrong. I told her what had happened and she had an "aha" moment. I also smugly remarked how all sorts of people were calling in re: the crossword puzzles. I didn't tell her that we lost the subscription to the horoscopes, but I did tell her luckily we didn't lose our subscription to the horoscopes or we'd probably have more calls. Of course, she agreed and said that of course, people would notice that right away. She actually read the horoscopes in the exact issue and said, everything looks good to me!

A psychic! Wouldn't she know I was lying? Wouldn't she know that the horoscopes were in fact wrong? I guess it all goes to show the accuracy of horoscopes.

Cheers.
