So this mounths instalment is in and you will be gald to know that nothing has changed.

Onto the first article
http://www.hpathy.com/ezine/editorial/April04.asp
Homeopathy and science.
It includes the line

We do not need to prove ourselves to

They are claiming to be an alturnative to real medcine. Simple ethics requires them to prove (in the no homeopathic meaning) themselves. The article continues
Such dramatic cures can not be attributed to placebo

Just watch me do so.
Fianaly the athor suggest that by havbing a large enough database of case records they will be able to show homeopathy works. Of course consering homeopaths record of recording acurety it is no supries that he has higher hopes of this producing a posertive result than a properly conducted double blinded trial.

On to the next article which includes the line

Natrum Bromatum will prove very useful in cases of homosexuality, which are due to a man’s fear of the opposite sex. The fear of women leads a man to search for homosexual relationships.
http://www.hpathy.com/cases/natrum_brom_loukas.asp
Some get this guy to move into the 20th centry please

Onto the regular vac bashing article
http://www.hpathy.com/health/anthrax_vaccine.asp

The source of the article is the
NATIONAL VACCINE INFORMATION CENTER
a group well know for providing will balanced an acruet information on vacines (Hint this is salcasm).

for a slightly more balanced view go here

And now an article bashing real medecine. Pity the author doesn't deal with real medcine but with the standard homeopathic strawman.

http://www.hpathy.com/papersnew/choose_homeopathy.asp

But hey the author is appealing to the authority of someone who didn't know about avogardo's constant or virues so a few other logical fallies hardly make any difference.

The book review is of a book that is apprently
http://www.hpathy.com/bookreviews/taking_off.asp
neatly written with various sections focusing on various aspects of building a successful career as a homeopath.
I wounder if they have a sention dealing with the fact it doesn''t work.

This mounths mirical cure is an abscess in a sheepdog.
http://www.hpathy.com/cures/abscess.asp

The author is trying to push homeopathic remedies being natural. If there then the natural levels of homeopathic remedies in our tap water should leave us all dead due to multiple provings at the same time. Doesn't seem to be happening.

Finialy we have an artilce comiiting to clasic logical fallcies ie appeal to authority and appeal to age with the claim the Hippocrates was the first homeopath

So overal an imprssive attempt to write masses about nonsense.

It talks more sense you ever could hope for.

You lot need to get out more and try to extend your vocabulary which unsurprisingly seems very limited at present, or perhaps it always will be.

I think your poll has not really turned out as you would have wanted. O dear, what a shame. Better luck next time hey, perhaps more sensible homeopaths have invaded your boards!! One can hope.

I thought at this point in my life there wasn't going to be much that would literally make my jaw drop in astonishment. But the idea that homeopathy can cure homosexuality did it. Does that author even have two brain cells to rub together?

Well, we can figure out who gave the single vote to option 2. Maybe you should go round up Kumar, Xanta and Barb, we haven't heard from any of them lately, and Kumar at least was a nice person.

PS. You wouldn't consider addressing any of Geni's points, would you? Thought not.

Yes, one in each cheek.

Each one of us believes that homeopathy has an effect.

It is not enough to present cured cases as proof of homeopathy.

Sheesh, these guys really are dense aren’t they.

A standard double-blind test, as used in testing aspirin or any other medication, where half are given a homeopathick ‘cure’ and half are given a placebo can quickly determine whether there is any real effect and yet these geniuses always want some complicated, unscientific and highly subjective testing method.

Users may be deluded but the promoters who willfully avoid the most simple, common, and accepted testing procedures to simply determine if the ‘cure’ works are clearly common con-men.

Yeah, I know, I’m preaching to the choir but it really gets my goat that so many people fall for something so easily proven false.

edited to add: I misspelled 'homeopathic' as 'homeopathick' but I kind of like that so I'm leaving it alone, hehe.

Meh...

Looks like they've fixed the little voting system. If you want to take advantage of the HPathy polls you must delete your HPathy cookies, then change your IP address (if you dont have a dialup, you can do this with handy Proxy Server work). Too much work to screw around the poll results with any significantly large numbers...

In the two and a half years I have been on this board your replies have been just about the lamest I've seen from anyone (except possibly WWu, but I wouldn't be too proud about that) in a debate with skeptics. You have made no attempt to answer the majority of questions asked, and merely insult your opponents, as if that meant anything. Is this really the best you can do to support your position and justify your profession? Don't you think that you, as a practicing homeopath, should be able to present a better case than this? If not, why not?

So are we to take it that you believe that homosexuality can be 'cured' by homeopathic medicine?

You lot need to get out more and try to extend your vocabulary which unsurprisingly seems very limited at present, or perhaps it always will be.

Isn't that slightly rich coming from someone who routinely uses playground insults in place of rational argument?

What in the wide wide world of sports?!!

Are these people for real?!

http://www.chiaz.com/provings/cathartes/index.htm

A proving of Turkey Vulture

The specimen was obtained from a fresh automobile road-kill in Northern Arizona. A trituration from the turkey vulture primary tail feather was made to a 3C potency and then hand succussed to a 30C potency. The remedy is now available from the Hahnemann pharmacy.

First off...

"The proving was a double blind test: neither the provers nor the supervisors knew what the remedy was until after the proving."

Now THAT is a real knee slapper. :D

And then we have...

"Hair was a recurring theme in the proving as it is for the vulture. Vultures by necessity become bald to prevent infection."

"Itching was another strong theme. Five of the provers noted a strong feeling of formification or bugs crawling on their lower extremities at night. Lice reportedly can be a problem for these birds."

And we conclude with...

"The proving had a dramatic impact on many of the participants. Remarkably, ten of the eighteen participants left the proving with cured symptoms over the first few months and for many these effects lingered over time. The most common cured symptoms were increased energy and feelings of calmness, peacefulness and contentment."

I mean, I knew this stuff was wacky, but dizzamn!

*edited to add a particularly juicy tidbit. No turkey vultures were harmed during the editing of this post**

Now, care to guess whether the master prover knew what the "remedy" was while extracting the relevant symptoms?

It's just like the proving of the blood of the peregrine falcon, which turned up all this turning and circling, and the proving of the blood of an AIDS patient (yes, just as well it was 30C), which turned up all these feelings of hopelessness. Given a sufficiently large slew of self-obsessed drivel, you can find anything you like to fit the "theme" you've decided on.

Rolfe.

Why are they testing peregrine falcon, AIDS patients and turkey vulture road kill? It just seems a little odd.

And if I took essence of house cat would I have an enormous desire to sleep all day and clean myself with my tongue?

I had never read that much about homeopathy. I always thought it's basic premise was kind of kooky. But I thought that the preparations were made from plants. Like tree bark or grass. Never in my wildest imagination would I have ever thought that someone would try to make "medicine" out of a latex condom. And that people will actually ingest it and think they have been affected somehow. The human mind is an amazing (and sometimes scary) thing.

If you get right into the site (it's a bit of a pain because it uses frames), and read the individual proving diaries, you may never recover. As Badly Shaved Monkey said to me when he first pointed me at that link, if these people were any more interested in themselves, they'd never get out of the house in the morning.

Rolfe.

Ugh. Why are there so many lunatics on the planet? Yah, I can be nutty sometimes, but this is insane drivel spouted by unmitigated examples of human ignorance.
I'm embarrassed that I'm from the same species.

I voted for option 4 but with the caveat that so long as you don't expect me to pay for it - real health work doesn't pay that well.
