Anyone using RCA or S-Video to RF Coax (PAL) ?

Here's the story: Mom loves her old TV wich has only RF Coaxial input. She also wants to connect a DVD with RCA and S-Video outputs. I've found a few modulators around the net but they're either not PAL-compatible or are about 100 euros which seems a lot. Does anyone in Europe use such an adapter ? And is the picture quality good ?

I use a box to convert RCA to Coax for a DVD player. The DVD didn't have S Video, but the convertor does. I'd say the quality is as good as cable TV. I got it at Radio Shack, Cat. No. 15-1214. It only cost $20 or $25.
Do you have Radio Shack in Greece? What's the wall socket voltage over there? This unit uses 120V.

If I'm not mistaken the first Radio Shack just opened downtown. I've found such adapters in online US stores which cost less than $25, but unfortunately they are not compatible with PAL (voltage is not a problem, I've got a transformer 120->240). But good idea, I'll check RS.

This seems strange to me. There used to be audio/video to RF converters all over the place. Many of the computers had these little modulator cans. They worked fine, and they were cheap. This includes England, which uses PAL. My cousin's BBC color computer came with one.

Have you tried eBay?

I had a similar problem with my daughters TV. Wanted to hook up the dvd player, but no where to go with it and keep the cable. I solved the problem with her vhs tape player. I out puted from the dvd to the tape player (RCA imputs on the back of the tape player) which was already inline with the cable to the TV. Just change the imput setting on the tape player when she wants to watch a dvd and it goes to the tv through the cable.
