Anyone thinking of going to QEDCon?

Just wondering.

I'm not sure if I can warrant the cost of a ticket (I bought my TAM London ticket when I was a little bit more flush with cash) but things may change if anyone I know is going.

Yeah, I know, it's not a JREF event, but I'd like to think that if Ipswich Skeptics in the pub organised a UK conference, then I could expect a few JREFers to pop along.

Wait a moment... I have an idea!

On the 30th November 2010, I'd like to announce a Skeptical conference in Ipswich, Suffolk, UK. Accommodation is free for anyone that lives out of town (places limited to 2 places, or 3 places if you are happy to sleep on an inflatable mattress). We have two speakers. One of them is me. Sorry.

I would love to go, but it's a heck of a commute from Melbourne. :)

I'm thinking about it, but there's too much going on at the moment to make a decision. And, as I pointed out elsewhere in response to comments that the cost of TAM London made it an elitist event, it will cost me more to attend QED con than it did to go to TAM London.

I actually got a ticket already, even though I don't know if I'll be able to attend yet. At 99 quid it's still in a range where I can afford it even if I don't go. And those guys did a great job with the 10:23 campaign, so if I can't go I'll just consider it a donation to a worthy cause.

Bumping this thread as I've just noticed the date of next year's QEDcon has been announced.
the next QED conference will take place on the weekend of March 10th-11th, 2012. While details of speakers are yet to be confirmed, the event will take place once more in the Ramada Jarvis Piccadilly Hotel, Manchester

That's the weekend close to my birthday, so I might possibly treat myself, especially since there is no TAM London this year.

*bump* Tickets on sale from tomorrow, at 10:23. :)

To offer even greater value for money this year, we have squeezed our suppliers until the pips squeak and have reduced the ticket price for 2012. A full-priced ticket for next year will be just £89, with student tickets a bargain at just £68 - that's for a whole weekend of science and skeptical fun in the comfortable surroundings of the Ramada Piccadilly Hotel, Manchester, 10th-11th March 2012. Plus, as bonus for early-birds, be amongst the first to book your QED tickets and you'll receive a free QED 2011 T Shirt, while stocks last.

Just bought a ticket; is there anyone here who went to the dinner last year? Is it worth the extra?

I'm planning a trip to England in the spring. I may just have to make a side trip to the QED. A foreign country and skepticism. whoopie!

Well, I've finally got around to booking my hotel for the weekend, so I guess I'm going. :) Anyone else? Less than 80 days to go, now.

ETA: The list of speakers looks good; about half I've seen before, and the other half not at all. Some guy called DJ will be there.

Wish I could be there mate. Would be great to catch up.

Having said that, my girl and I are presently looking at buying a house in the UK. Hoping to move sometime next year, so if you can wait 18 months or so you'll have someone to go with. :)

I'm actually in planning for a trip to the UK in 2013, taking in QEDCon while I'm there. If I can swing it, I hope to be able to do QED at the start of my trip, spend a few weeks all over the UK, then take in NECSS on my way home.

That'd be awesome.
