Anybody else doing NaNoWriMo this month?

Oh dear, it's already the 4th.

I briefly considered it last year despite the fact that I had never remotely had any interest in writing a novel.

A couple of months ago I wrote a short piece for a workshop called "Guaranteed Overnight Theater" where you conceive, rehearse, and perform a theater piece in 24 hours. As with the novel, I had never remotely considered writing a script for any purpose whatsoever before signing on.

I think there's something about the ridiculously short clock that appeals to me. So I guess this is a long winded way of saying I'm still thinking about it this year.

I like the short time period, which is what it's all about. If you didn't have that clock ticking you would do what everybody does: not actually write anything but go back and edit that paragraph, have a cuppa, post on the JREF forums, anything rather than add to that wordcount.

Hang on? Do these words count towards my 50,000?

I love it not because I think I'm a good writer, but because I am a voracious reader and I get a great insight into how a real writer works, like characterisation and one's own life subconsciously expresses itself on the book's characters.

the idea is to get the words down. My problem is worrying about spelling and knowing that should be "expressing".

I am trying it for the first time this year, and I'm not yet sure how it will go. Basically, I'm trying to break a habit of pondering every sentence for 5 minutes to make sure I get it quite right the first time - that's definitely not an option here!

*gulp* what am I doing here, anyway? I should be adding to the wordcount! *ka-pwingg!*

I am, first year, and for all the reasons stated above.

I'm doing well so far, I've got a charater I like and a plot that's developing nicely.

I'm totally going to work this for publication.

No, but I am submitting some of my short stories to magazines. NoMo is a bit too regular for me, I can't keep up the set pace for long.

Well, I never even started and it's now the 15th. This just wasn't a year for outside projects. Looks like I'll join the ranks of losers who didn't cross the finish line. How many of those never even get off the starting line?
