I see a fair amount of woo relating to vaccination on teh interweb, but I have seldom seen malignant stupidity displayed at the incandescent temperature of this particular antivax blog rant. It dates from last year, but is just so ridiculous that I just had to share for you to either laugh at or despair....

What is depressing is not so much that someone can hold views such as this, but that there seem to be a whole tribe of likeminded neuropenic individuals out there. They seem to have totally lost any critical faculty they may have once posessed - I guess they must have been educated at one time since they can write and use a computer, but presumably they have lost the ability to reason or think or never had it in the first place. Why are there so many people like this in the world? Where did it all go wrong?

Selective gems:
I can't be scared, bullied or intimidated into assaulting my girls' immune systems. There is no amount of money on this planet that would ever have me putting such poison into my children's bodies.
Measles is not a killer disease. Children who die from measles are those who are medically 'mismanaged' during the natural course of the disease. That is, they've had their fever suppressed.
I grew up in Australia, where sugar cane is grown. Before the canes are harvested, the fields are burnt. This is specifically to get rid of all the 'vermin' ~ snakes, toads, etc., before harvesting. A fever is the body's way of burning off the vermin!
You wouldn't drink a vaccine, so why on earth inject it?
Vaccination causes the body to draw calcium from itself to attach to the invading chemicals so it can neutralise the vaccine. We absolutely NEED calcium for our nervous system and muscle function.
We build up our children's immune systems primarily by raising them in a space of love. If they feel good about themselves, rather than belittled, shamed or constantly threatened, they grow like weeds ~ strong, healthy, unstoppable.

Wow..wow...

Ten seconds on Google will kill the measles comment. http://www.who.int/mediacentre/factsheets/fs286/en/

But of course, that link mentions vaccines so of course it's all a ploy by the evil World Health Organization!

The rest just requires judicious use of text books, critical thinking classes, and being beaten with seafood!

It is not only incredibly stupid, it is downright dangerous both to themselves and others.
I consider the AntiVac movement to be one of the most dangerous out there.
One problem we skeptics have: We have to learn to pick our battles. We can't do everything at once. I would rather we concentrate on the real dangerous woo like this and leave other less immediately dangerous woo for the future.

Magical thinking at it's most stupid.

Seconded. It is sad that some people viciously attack harmless people with EMF detectors hunting for ghosts but don't take the time to spread the word about this kind of dangerous woo.

I also think too much time is spent on the Anti God Crusade. I am a total skeptic about religon, but it ain't gonna vanish anytime soon, and general assualts on religon which fail anyway could be better spent on more important issues. It's fine to critcise religon when it directily contradicts science...Creationism, Faith Healing (which ,come to think of it, has a large overlap with the Anti Vac crazies) but these rants against religon in general you see here and elsewhere do more harm then good.

I'm sure all those third world fatalities from measles were the result of antipyretics (fever reducing meds). Oh wait, in those cases it is the sanitation problem.

Sad, very sad.

I don't want to sign up for a Google username. Last time I did that with Yahoo, they published my email address. But here's what I was going to post on the blog:

Just curious where your 'expertise' came from and why we should believe your conclusions over the evidence based conclusions drawn by thousands and thousands of medical researchers and providers from all over the world?

"You wouldn't drink a vaccine, so why on earth inject it?"

I feel so much stupider for reading that.

It might be explained by one of my all-time favourite quotes:

“For every problem there is a solution which is simple, clean and wrong.” -Henry Louis Mencken

Sorry, once read, you can't unread it.

May I suggest ingestion of potable ethanol, works wonders against stains and odours caused by mind pissage.

However I would suggest drinking it, I do not advocate injecting it.
