Apparently Father Amorth has performed over 30 000 exorcisms in his career. Busy man. Busy, busy man. If he's been doing one exorcism a day, he's been at it for slightly over 82 years! That's one exorcism a day, every day, no break for Sunday...

Now, I don't actually know how long it takes to perform an exorcism, but "one a day" sounds like a safe guess.

Maybe he measures his tally by the number of demons cast out. I knew a guy once who claimed that he had once cast out 200 demons from one person in one session!

I just sat back and thought of that joke about how many elephants you can fit in a Mini.....

"None, unless you cast the demons out first"?

Too fast for me...I came here to say the same thing, but you beat me to it.

Considering the good father was born in 1925 (per Wikipedia) that means he's been casting out one demon a day since before he was born.

Truly a miracle!

Not to mention working on the Sabbath...

Message to Father Amorth: I would rather be with a happy, unconflicted magician than a neurotic, bedevilled priest :)

When she noticed the photo of Sam and me on the wall, she audibly gasped, and mumbled, “familiar!” as she stepped back in shock.

Best laugh I've had all week.

I have never hear the word familiar used in that context before. where does it originate? or what does it actually mean?

Maybe he offers group rates.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Familiar

Basically, an animal who serves and obey a witch. Why that hysterical woman thought he was a familiar rather than a pet is anyone's guess, but that's a pretty funny anecdote nonetheless, haha.

In RPGs and modern fantasy, familiars serve the same purpose (companions to magic-users), but without the hysteria about Satanism. :)
