In the "new books" section, my library had a copy of The Great Zapruder Film Hoax, by James H. Fetzer (PhD, doncha know).

I checked it out due to morbid curiosity. Basically, the guy is some kind of photo analyst and claims that, rather than being broken, several seconds of the film were removed by the Conspiracy to hide the fact that the limo stopped when JFK was shot. The footage of the bullet striking and the blood flying forward (indicating a shot from behind) was actually fabricated.

Apparently, he took some pictures from where Zapruder was standing and compared it to the film, and he claims that certain things from his shots, like the sign, don't line up with the Zapruder film. This supposedly proves the film was faked.

Of course, he drags out the "drawings of the wounds don't match" argument, blah blah blah. Heh, used to be that the footage proved that the drawings were sloppy. This guy is claiming that the drawings actually prove the film is fake.

He also claims that various blotches in various photos are actually the killer on the grassy knoll. In another photo, he claims that one person is actually George H.W. Bush, apparently there to supervise the shooting.

Woo woo!
 
Oh man but I am beaten to the ground with 40+ years of the JFK stuff.

Let's suppose that some cabal of criminals, politicians, and businessmen turned on one of their own and had him killed. Would that be so surprising?

I've seen claims that edge detection can be used to pick out a humanoid shape. Never tried it myself though.

From the evidence as I understand it, it seems likely that there was another killer and perhaps a conspiracy. JFK made a lot of people angry, it doesn't really suprise me.

Out of curiosity, in this scenario according to Fetzer, was Zapruder actually part of the conspiracy, or just a guy with a camera whose film was faked after he handed it over?
 
I have exchanged e-mail with Fetzer. He also says anyone believing Apollo landed on the moon is out of their mind. He is just another loon.

Wow, I didn't even look at the date of the original post-thought this was a recent thread. Sorry 'bout that. I didn't revive the thread, though-you can thank "7forever" for that.
