Ancient Pre-Hebrew curse tablet/amulet

Well, it's kinda why I was assuming it was some kind of amulet. What looked to me like a hole certainly didn't look big enough for a nail, but it might have worked for a thread and the off-centre position kinda suggested it being hung.

Not that it was a sane idea in retrospect, mind you.

Well, either way, the question is a good one. I mean, you have a point: whether they're nailed, glued, placed at an altar, snuck into someone's bag or whatever, you'd expect to find more of them in a culture which uses them.

Unless, I guess, the counter-curse was to melt it if you found one.

Well, the official article is out... in the wrong kind of journal for the kind of peer review that would be needed for the claims they made... and it includes a scan of the hidden interior surface where the writing is supposed to be. Here's a video showing that image followed by the one in which the alleged letters are drawn to show how they match up with the actual scan:

You couldn't ask for a more perfect example of somebody having just made up what (s)he wanted to be there and drawn it over some random light & dark spots while pretending that there was any kind of connection between the two things at all. Mister Occam wins again.
