<SNIP>

Truvada, a pill that combines two antiretroviral HIV medications, received National attention as studies, funded in part by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation as well as the National Institute for Health, conclusively demonstrated the medication's powerful effectiveness at combating the HIV virus as it enters the blood stream. This is tremendous news. The pill curbed HIV infection in an overall 44% of its participants, but even better, when the pill was taken on a strict daily regiment, the effectiveness of preventing infection was near or around 90%.

But not 100%. So some people will become infected, and because they are already taking a 2 drug regimen (which is insufficient to suppress HIV in the longer term) their new HIV will become resistant to tenofovir and FTC.
This resistant strain will then spread more widely, and soon you will see that taking truvada doesn't prevent 90%, or even 50% of new infections, but 0%.

Then you have the logistics of who needs this anyway?
Condoms are a whole lot cheaper.
So maybe a niche market for porn actors, or prostitutes/rent boys, but I don't see many others being interested.
