Came across this in a free London paper this evening. Can't imagine it'll be much of a victim oops crowd puller...

uh. I've had radiation treatment for cancer. What dangers or side effects is L. Ron gonna tell me about that I don't already know of from the doc?

If I was supposed to get super powers I'm gonna be pissed...

It will destroy your soul.

Hubbard and Radiation

This Is What Scientologists Actually Believe

Oh man. Some quotes that are absolute gems:

Now, that's what cancer is all about. It isn't a strange sickness. It is the effort on the part of a few cells not to surrender, and to go off and make a pattern of their own in any way, shape or form they can... Second-dynamic mutations, births of peculiar animals instead of babies is, of course, merely the total effect of the body itself to create something that can survive in spite of radiation. And that is evidently what mutation is about, and that is all it is about."

[L. Ron Hubbard, The Scale of Havingness, lecture of 29 Nov 1959]

So cancer is just our mutating into another species. I get it.

Cancer is not caused - never has been and never will be ...

It always requires a second-dynamic or sexual upset, such as the loss of children or some other mechanism to bring about a condition known as cancer. This is cancer at the outset. I have examined too many cases not to have recognized this, because it is present in every single case that had cancer that I've ever examined - real wild curve on the second dynamic. And where we have helped a case with cancer we have processed such things as wasting babies and accepting babies, and mocking up babies and throwing them away, and doing suchlike and so on, and we have had a considerable change in the condition of the case. However, a person can get so far gone that he can hardly be processed or not processed at all, and when this is the case, why, the cancer gets him.

[L. Ron Hubbard, The Scale of Havingness, lecture of 29 Nov 1959]

That's it. Babies cause cancer. Of course Scientologists haven't had much success in auditing cancer away.

How sad people believe L. Ron's crap.

Thanks for those quotes. They're interesting not just for the astounding content, but also for the quality of the authorship. I am stunned.

It is not any wonder why he couldn't make it as a sci-fi writer and had to invent a religion. His writing is terrible!

Someone ought to track down all of the Scientologists who have received psychiatric care, are on psychotropics, and have received radiation treatment themselves.

Of course, with medical confidentiality laws and all, that might be tough.

Hmm.

I'm still awaiting a reply to a (very polite) request as to which members of our beloved parliament so vitally need immediate transcipts.

I didn't realise our Monster Raving Loony Party still existed after the sad demise of Screaming Lord Sutch.

Don't forget to complain to trading standards if they don't respond.

There are no Scientologists on psychotropics. Not a lot who have received psychiatric care or radiation treatment.

The beat goes on.

I always sold Sutch my vote in exchange for a drink back when I lived in Finchley. Yup, corruption at the very heart of the British democratic system. Hard to credit, isn't it?

Because Scientology is equivalent to a padded-cell. When that no longer serves and believers go back on the meds, they're no longer Scientologists. Deranged yes, specifically Scientologists no.

Not a lot who have received psychiatric care or radiation treatment.
Not a lot at all, really. Pretty stagnant compared to, say, early Christianity or early Islam. Particularly in comparison to Islam, despite modern communications.

The only reason Hubbard outranks Crowley in public recognition is modern communications. Crowley was the better writer by far.

Quick Update

Well, I finally received a reply from those friendly neighbourhood $cientologists yesterday:

Dear Jon,
Thank you for your enquiry. The reference to the MPs requesting copies of the lecture transcripts was referring to the early 1950's when the lectures were originally delivered. These lectures have been recorded by Mr L. Ron Hubbard and are available for purchse from the Church of Scientology, with transcripts. You are welcome to come in and purchase them, or to visit the church at 146 Queen Victoria St to find out more.

So at least the M.P.'s who so desperately needed L. Ron's state-of-the-ark knowledge probably aren't amongst our current shower in Parliament (although they could just still be asleep in The House of Lords).

Some small comfort anyway.
