Alice Cooper: Anti-Bush acts treasonous morons

"Besides," he continued, "when I read the list of people who are supporting Kerry, if I wasn't already a Bush supporter, I would have immediately switched. Linda Ronstadt? Don Henley? Geez, that's a good reason right there to vote for Bush."
Add Alice Cooper to the list of people to hate.

And NO, Cooper's support of Bush proves nothing except that he supports bush and perhaps there are one or two reasonable people out there who do. I don't expect anyone to change their minds based on Cooper's opinion so don't accuse me of an appeal to authority. Besides as Alice says,

"If you're listening to a rock star in order to get your information on who to vote for, you're a bigger moron than they are. Why are we rock stars? Because we're morons. We sleep all day, we play music at night and very rarely do we sit around reading the Washington Journal."

Alice is correct about listening to rock stars. But then his preference finds it's way an Internet site and then on a skeptics board. :)

I disagree with the contention that they are treasonous.

"To me, that's treason," Cooper said. "I call it treason against rock and roll, because rock is the antithesis of politics. Rock should never be in bed with politics".

I disagree with his contention too, but lets not leave unclear what his contention was.

Why? I like Alice Cooper.

'Course, I like Don Henley and Linda Ronstadt, too. And Ralph Stanley, who inexplicably played for Bob Graham's short-lived presidential campaign. And I absolutely love listening to the Red Army Choir.

If I were to let musicians dominate my political opinions, I probably shouldn't be voting. :)

But then, musicians and actors have their opinions too, have their right to voice them, and if the fact that they're celebrities gets them more exposure, well, c'est la vie.

See the item in my extensive list on the jury nullification thread about entertainers having important things to say.

Those of you planning to throw your vote away might want to vote for Tom Cruise. He refuses to discuss his choice for president. Claims it's his own personal business and nobody else's.

How quaint. And refreshing. :)

The "list to hate" was rhetorical. I love the music of Springsteen, Dave Mathews, Bonnie Raitt, John Mellencamp et al. I don't think anyone should be hated for political views. It just seems that there is a certain air of contempt for people who support Bush and of course a belief that only the cool and hip support Kerry.

Eh. I haven't seen it. Of course, I've been given a good bit of flack for supporting Nader, but such is life.

Treason against R&R!? That's both rich and apt, coming from a superficial, no talent, self-proclaimed moron.

HAHAHA Cooper reasonable? god damn Nixon's rollin over in his grave. Side's If I ran for office I'd want the support of a reincarnated 17 century witch/ office supply spokes person!
Hope he keeps a low profile the Falwell wing of the Republican party will surly be annoyed.

Celebrity endorsments.....Who cares? Christ in a sidecar their actors and musicians , who gives a flying fcuk at a rollin donut hole? There opine ( and vote ) is worth the same as Mine , Randfans or ( shudder ) Americans. They poo like everyone else. They are not political experts.

I guess I was mislead by the headline.

I was going to make the same jibe until I remembered how hypocritical Fallwell is.

Except, of course, among those who feel contempt for Kerry supporters, and believe the Bush side is the cool and hip one.

You don't have to look too hard to find the contempt directed against Springsteen lately.

To say nothing of the Dixie Chicks affair.

Yeah, I think that is the point of both the thread and Alice's remarks. I'm not sure if you are taking exception while agreeing or simply agreeing.

In any event you agree and that is all I ask for. :)

I'm not sure why Alice should be judged unreasonable but then I guess there is no reason to assume that he is either. How does Nixon figure into the mix?

Well, Cruise might not be able to say who he's voting for because his Scientologist elders haven't told him yet.

Just kidding...kind of.

Umm He's the scariest Dickesonion villain I could conjure and he was Pres when 'EVIL" Alice Cooper first raised his cursed head ! ( we can't even think of a word that rhymes...how's that for godlessness?)

A good reason maybe, but not quite good enough.

Seriously, what kind of loopy decision making is this - looking at the supporters of a candidate to evaluate the qualifications of a candidate?

Knowing a bit about Cooper I'm reasonably sure it was tounge in cheek but in any event it is no worse than voting for someone because a rockstar says you should.
