Adult Stem Cell technology may yield diabetes cure

Stem cells from murine bone marrow successfully developed into insulin producing beta cells. If this procedure can be successfully achieved using human adult stem cells then a cure for diabetes may be on the way.

It should be remembered that while a lot of debate has been focused on embryonic stem cells, theres also some interesting work being done with adult stem cells.

We are living in exciting times! A cure for diabetes would indeed be a miracle (not in a literal religous sense, ok)! The fact that it may be done with non-controversial stuff is icing on the cake, sure, but this is wonderful news.

I wonder what more we have to look forward to. I'm also excited at the prospect of the new CERN accelerator going online in a couple of years -- that will move us far along toward a TOE.

Just thawing out. We went from well below freezing (lows below zero or single digits, highs in the mid teens) to 50+ degrees just last week.

Note to lurkers wondering about these temperatures, these are AMERICAN temperatures, not those Commie, gun-grabbin' socialist whiny liberal pinko "Celcius" degrees! John Wayne approved!
