The Wall Street Journal said that the shoes called the Adidas 1 will have a microprocessor under the arch of the foot that will measure the compression of a runner's stride.

The microprocessor will then use that reading to move cables in the shoe, making adjustments around the foot to make sure the shoe is not too firm or too soft.

Too rich for my blood!

More here.

Sounds like the "Dyma-Cel Technology" that came out a few years ago for one brand of shoes. The claim was that it was a superior shoe that helped you jump higher. This was 'proven' by a sliding tab behind a window that went from dark to light when you flexed the shoe.

You know it's working because the plastic moved!

I just today heard a talk by someone who is working with Addidas on their possible next gig: A soccer shoe that measures the speed of the kick. He gave one interesting piece of info: 70% of those buying those shoes (high-end sports shoes) are not doing any sport at all .
