Hello everybody,
Today, on the bus, I was lucky enough to witness a witnessing, which should be just about the poorest word play I will ever come up with. Bear with me, it's early and I'm still sleepy.
Anyway, a gentleman started preaching to another gentleman, stating among other things that today was such a nice day, God certainly intended it to be the official start of Spring. Which then lead to speaking about weither one believes in Jesus-Christ, and weither His Return is slated for Very Soon, and what one will say to Him then.
Unfortunately, the bus ride was short (I only heard 2-3 minutes of preaching, top) so I didn't get to determine weither the guy was just an enthusiast believer or if he was a few colors short of a box of Crayola... However, one little nugget of wisdom got to my ear as I was leaving: "The Old Testament is good. The New Testament? Not so much. But the Old Testament is good."
Needless to say, that struck me as more than odd, what with this same gentleman having just professed his faith in our pal JC's second turn around the block. I was wondering if this is a belief held by a particular denomination of Christianity, and how it is justified. How can one believe in JC while undermining the New Testament's authority?
Of course, the question is moot if I ran into yet another squirrel short a few nuts... or into a nut itself...
Thanks!
