Nugan Hand was one of those entities that you would think only existed in fiction, a book by John LeCarre, for example.

It had it all, drugs, fraud, green berets, admirals, the CIA, international arms deals.

What exactly was going on? I don't think we will ever know, but claims that it was a drug dealing bank that was used to raise funds for the CIAs covert operations is one claim.

It was reported in Australia because it was based here, but apparently nowhere else was it really talked about, presumably because it was just a little to fantastic and lurid.

However, as far as I can see, it is just what it was portrayed as.

I have a vague recollection they made some generous contributions to our beloved Liberal Party around the time of the dismissal of the Whitlam government as well, although I am open to correction on that point.
