Well, how about a change of pace?

Here's the link to a quiz about Crossing Over, JE's work, and "the process". Why not see how much you know? (There's only one possible little problem: that you have to get at least 70% right to advance to the "harder levels"....:p ).

CO/JE quiz

Not about the process--it's marketing

Made it to the third level. Here are the questions I missed (not verbatim):

What kinds of pets does JE have?

What are their names?

Do all Psychics have the ability to be mediums (according to JE)?

What is the number to call for tickets to CO? (actually, I got this right, but it's a bleeping ridiculous question for a quiz about 'process' dontchathin?

Who is One Last Time (JE's book) dedicated to?

What age was JE when he had his first OBE?

With what television show was JE obsessed as a child?

Which family member taught JE the value of earth, universe, meditation, and yoga?

Who does JE consider the only Spiritual teacher on earth?

What tool did JE use when he first began to do Psychic Fairs?

Who wrote "The Seance: Healing Messages from Beyond"?

Questions regarding how JE received messages or what he cautioned his audience to do prior to showing up ("check your expectations at the door"--rather telling, I think) I got without fail.

Are you going to suggest that because I missed these questions I don't know enough about CO, JE, or "the process."

Be careful if you are or I'll create a quiz about magic and mentalism, then I'll have Claus and Instg8r add questions on internet searches that can be done in two hours. Then, if you don't progress far enough, we'll say you can't comment on whether or not JE could be cheating.

Or I could make it even more analogous and ask you questions about the process of cold reading, complete with questions about when Ian Rowland first thought of writing "The Full Facts Book of Cold Reading" or to whom Banachek's "Psychological Subtleties" is dedicated.

JE sounds a bit like ...

Gilderoy Lockhart: "AMAZING! This is just like magic!"

Some of these questions sound a bit, well, "self absorbed" comes to mind.

Crossing Over with John Edward has brought comfort to those who watch.

Maybe, but has it actually helped them in their possible grief processes?

It has also become a wonderful classroom for those who want to learn more about the afterlife

Ehr, no. It has become a demonstration of what JE claims about a possible afterlife. Which is that spirits are barely able to communicate and have practically nothing to say apart from banalities.

More from the "Cool intro" (some fifth grader playing with javascript):

Communicate
Appreciate
Validate

Can't wait for that validation

Good! I got 2 right on the first "level". I'm proud of that :p .

Um...no, Garrette, actually I wasn't.

I admit I'm curious how most people who post about JE would do on this, but.... I'll probably never know :(. Thanks for sharing your scores--and MRC Hans, too. :)

(btw, I think I'd do fine on a quiz of Ian's book and cold reading in general, although you're right that I've never read the Banachek book but its also not referenced in debate here, as I recall.....:p)

Who does JE consider the only Spiritual teacher on earth?
Garrette, wasn't this questions about who JE credits with being his spiritual teacher, not the "only spiritual teacher on earth"? I think it was.

You ignoring everything taught to you in previous threads is not a change of pace.

I agree. This thread is merelty a pathetic attempt of diverting attention from the fact that Clancie has consistently ignored a plethora of questions.

Let's get back to business: "Questions for Clancie"

Oh, sorry....should be this: "Questions Clancie does NOT want to answer"

Maybe if you added some music and put it into quiz form....

Edited to say- by the way, I also cleared level 4.

There was no level 5. I found level 3 harder than level 4, frankly. I found questions about his pets on level 2 inane. Kind of like questions on junior high questionnairres girls passed around. Making sure someone "really" was into JE. I was also amused at some "wrong" multiple choice answers. How does JE communicate with spirits- through an earpiece. A little Popoff flashback, there :)
The only real process questions really where on levels 1 and 4 and I think pretty much any skeptic here would answer them easily with or without watching CO. We may not know the name of his pets, or who taught him yoga, or what age he was when he met this person or that, or when he had his first out of body experience, but we can discuss mediumship coherently. I really really do hope they kill the music.

Cleared level four. :)
Hi, ersby, that's pretty impressive--especially since you've still never seen "CO", right? Darned good! :) (But hardly surprising given your serious efforts to understand JE's results and how they compare with various cold reading techniques).

TLN,

Have you ever read ersby's posts or his article in Skeptic Report?

I think there will be some (excellent) JE critics here (and ersby is one) who are critical of JE and mediumship but actually know a lot about JE and his work and therefore their comments carry a lot of weight.

These aren't the ones who think "bashing believers is fun" or "JE's a fraud" because "people can't talk to the dead."

It might be interesting for you to differentiate these kinds of JE critics here and see which group you think that you fit with best....

Yes.

Clancie, you're so transparent. Let me summarize for you so there's no confusion (though I've done so before and you just ignore me):

I've watched plenty of CO.

I've read plenty of cold readers who can do what Edward does (like the example above).

Even if we were to accept that there are differing levels of "authorities" on Edward, it would be irrelevant as skepticism doesn't recognize authorities.

Clancie, you simply want to marginalize me in an attempt to ignore me. I'm closed-minded or I haven't watched CO or I'm a cynic or I've made up my mind already or I think bashing believers is fun (which brings up an interesting point, read this).

Any other excuse or subject will do rather than addressing the points I raise.

Well, TLN, I didn't do all the name calling. You did it yourself.
I am curious about this:

Well, Claus hauled out for you Neil's much argued over reading (which indisputably, is NOT like an unedited hour long live appearance of Neil giving a reading on LKL).

But you keep saying there are "plenty". Does Claus need to do all the work? Can you come up with some names of all these cold readers who "can do what Edward does"? I'd like to see who you exactly have in mind when you say this.

P.S. As for the "bashing believers is fun" comment, I was thinking of thaiboxerken, who has said exactly that here before.

Yes, I've seen them, and seen them presented to you. You simply rationalize them away. I guess I'll find them again, if only to play fair.

Yes, that does seem a reasonable thing to do, since you keep saying I ignore these people and I have no idea whom you're talking about.

Let's see... Claus?

This is where you tell me what a big meanie he is.

And let's see... me? Ditto. I'm a terrible person.

As you so often say to me, TLN, "focus".

Here's what you said and my response. I'm talking about wanting to see all these cold readers that you claimed in your previous posts that I ignore. Unless this applies to you or Claus, you are, uh, straying from the topic.

Unless you and Claus are cold readers, your post above makes no sense.

I don't mind. Don't make any assumptions on my behalf.

What difference does it make who brings up the evidence, as long as it is brought up? Stop changing the subject, Clancie!

Clancie.

Clancie, Clancie, Clancie....you have put me on ignore so many times, and taken me off ignore, too. Right now, I am back off ignore. You addressed a post I made, so you cannot possibly claim that you have me on ignore.

Stop the charade, stop being such a friggin' hypocrite, and start addressing the issues!
