Here in British Columbia, we're in the middle of a provincial election campaign. I'm trying to think of a single question to ask candidates to try to get a sense of their views on the importance of science and reason (as opposed to newage bullsh*t). It occurs to me that it might be useful to narrow the question down to a particular field, such as medicine (ie. to see where they stand on "alternative medicine" vs. real medicine, although not stated quite like that. I'm looking for suggestions for the wording of such a question. Multiple choice is fine.

you mint want to have a look at this thread http://www.internationalskeptics.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=55168&goto=newpost Whihc teh BoyPaj had the great idea of starting for the UK.

Our questions revolve mainly arround state funded creationist teachings, and state funded Homeopathy.

My standard letter was worded as
I am an Enfield resident and a potential supporter in the forthcoming election , before deciding how to cast my vote I would like to understand your position on a number of issues close to my heart.

1) do you support an increase in faith based education, practically with regards to
i) faith based schools
ii) the teaching of alternative theories to evolution in school science classes.

Would you support such polices locally in Enfield

2) NHS funding for Compliantly and Alternative medicines, in particular Homeopathy?

I await your reply

Kind regards.

(in case you didn't know the NHS is the National Health Service, which provided comprehensive medical treatemnt, free at the point of delivery- do you have anything simmilar in Brittish columbia?)

I quite liked my wordings of the questions as they don't give the polititions a strong idea of what answers whould plese me most.

Good luck.

ETA damm beaten to it- I wont even bother to fix my spellings now :(
