So tomorrow afternoon I have to turn in this assignment for a class where "you need to look through recent news accounts (within the last 3 months) to learn the basics about currently active intranational disputes. Select one dispute from each five continents." and then I have to write about a page on each one...he doesn't give much detail about the assignment but he gives an example- the shiites, sunnis, and kurds in Iraq...anyways I'm not very good at finding things like this, and on top of that I've been way too busy lately to be watching the news...I thought maybe you people in the politics forum would be able to think of some off the top of your head. Any ideas?

At this point in history, you are "in luck", you can just about click on Google news, pick a few headlines and head over to Wikipedia.

Obviously Iraq.
But how about a different angle... the Russians supplying Saddam with intel on Coalition troop movements right up to the invasion? Is the cold war still going full blast?

How about:
Hamas taking political control of Palestine?
Tensions heating up between India and Pakistan?
Iran's leader declares Israel null and void?
The EU rethinking the Western Balkans accession?

Some suggestions for ones that have been in the news over the last few months:

Asia: Sri Lanka- Tamil separatists
Europe: Spain - ETA - "Basque Fatherland and Liberty"
Africa: The Democratic Republic of Congo - one of the most complex conflicts
America: Colombia - anti-government groups

I think he was asking for internal conflicts "intranational" not international ones.

...currently active intranational disputes...he gives an example- the shiites, sunnis, and kurds in Iraq

Wow him by pointing out that this started as an international dispute (a dispute between nations) but is now largely an internal one.

And you were given this assignment when...?

for a class where "you need to look through recent news accounts (within the last 3 months) to learn the basics about currently active intranational disputes. And you were too busy to ask?

but he gives an example- the shiites, sunnis, and kurds in Iraq...anyways I'm not very good at finding things like this,
Then maybe you need to learn? Or do you expect other people to do your reseach for you for the rest of your life?

and on top of that I've been way too busy lately to be watching the news...
Or reading newsapers. Or reading online news stories. Or talking with your friends/family/neighbors about current events.

I thought maybe you people in the politics forum would be able to think of some off the top of your head. Any ideas?
Here's one: Do your own homework.

And, BTW, I'd be saying the same thing to my sister's kids if they were to make the same request.

BPSCG- I wasn't expecting anyone to go into detail about any of the disputes. I just wanted to save googling time.

Asia: Sri Lanka- Tamil separatists
Europe: Spain - ETA - "Basque Fatherland and Liberty"
Africa: The Democratic Republic of Congo - one of the most complex conflicts
America: Colombia - anti-government groups

that saves loads of time- I sincerely thank you darat
