I just heard the Stadtmiller-Show again where "Louder Than Words" and Eric Hufschmid dialed into that show. Now if i understand it the right way, Dylan Avery says: We sold about 75.000 to 100.000 copies of the Loose Change DVD - and they say, they gave 100,000 copies of the DVD away for free - with a price per Spindle-DVD about 50 to 60 cent per DVD???

The Hardcover-DVD´s price in their shop is 17.95 $ each. This would be
17.95 * ~90,000 = 1,615,500 $

0,60 * 100,000 = 60,000 $ (for giveaways)

1,615,500 $ - 60,000 $ = 1,555,500 $

Sentinel made a remark somewhere in this thread about LTW income and them reporting (or not) to the IRS. Hope the IRS is investigating them. :)
 
If the IRS is, and action is taken they'll just scream persecution like they did when they got caught with their pants down using copyrighted material without permission or compensation.

Honestly, stupid kids irritate me.

Maybe they've got Mr Zuniga the structural engineer on their side to prove that taxes are illegal (or whatever it is the nutjob believes).

Is it really copyrightviolation to use the material? I mean - everyone uses it in 9/11 docus and as far i know, they bought the DVD´s including this material.

But if it´s against us-law, who could sue them if not the copyright-owner? :confused:

Darn if the gubmint sends the IRS after LTW, that just proofs 9/11 was an inside job!

LTW = louder than words, AKA DylCo, AKA, dylan and friends

yes, IRS is the tax department

if LTW did not pay income taxes on any money earned they may have commited an arrestable offense (theyll probably try to use some not-for-profit exempt argument or something if they ever get charged)
 
And what about the Copyright-Owners? They allready know that they used their material. And as far i know from german laws, only the (C)-owner has the right to sue someone using their material, in america also? Or is this material public property because an "not foreseen event"?
 
Goldfish Pictures (from the Naudet documentary) want's their footage to be taken out of the film, or else sue them for copyright infrigment(sp). I don't know what the status on that is, though.

all the material is still protected under copyright law, a case could be made to force its release into public domain, but no such has case been put forth at this time

if the IRS goes after LTW it would have nothing to do with copyrights, its about income, they made money selling it, therefore they should pay taxes on that money

Right I wasn't trying to correlate the two, I can just see the same reactions from them to both situations where they acted without planning or thinking and got called on it.

And you can factor in to that the T-Shirts, stickers and other crapola they sell on their site.

It reminds be of a mockumentary I saw once on a comedy show here in aus.

Heavily paraphrasing: "Not that the money is important - I'm all about spreading the message... and if people want to pay me to hear my message, then I think I should spread it to as many people as possible."

of course all of this income may have been spent on other things related to LTW business, such as hosting and travel costs, however if they cant provide reciepts they might end up paying taxes on profits they never saw, lol

1) The LTW guys make things up, so it's a good idea to be skeptical about whatever they say.

2) Sales would include 10- and 50-DVD spindle bulk sales, as well as $3 "bare bones" DVDs without the packaging. These items have a lower profit margin than the $17.95 DVDs. Given the youth of their target audience and the fact that their product is available for free, I'd be surprised if the more expensive DVDs were big sellers.

3) There's no way to tell how many DVDs they've given away. The 100,000 figure would include all the DVDs their followers copied and distributed. You can bet that LTW didn't make 100,000 copies themselves. And these are "bare bones" DVDs in plain sleeves. Somehow I wound up with 24 of them on 9/11.
