And those are always fun, aren't they? In this case the questions are clearly written by US-Americans for US-Americans, so I thought this subforum is better suited than the "NOT US" politics forum - also because of the higher traffic.

So what they did is double the axis number of the Political Compass and create a four-fold spectrum of eight values. Look at the picture to see my results. On the Political Compass I have been at around 75% deep into the lower left corner for many years, so that's no surprise.

I could imagine that I moved a bit on the "new" Nation/World axis towards Nation in recent years, if only for the fact that the international organizations are so dysfunctional these days. But as long as I'm in the "peaceful" range that shouldn't be a problem.

I have NO IDEA what this means. From my perspective, these are just labels and are counter productive. I have different opinions on every issue and want to believe I can change my mind.

What was the last big issue you had a dramatic change in opinion?

I was anti-drug. Believed in strict penalties for the sale or use of narcotics. I was pro-life against gay marriage and I was anti-nuclear. There are others.

Was this tied to a religious position or anything?

No. I grew up as a Christian but that wasn't it.

I thought if the government didn't have laws against these things, nothing would stop people from taking drugs or engaging in homosexual activities. Both of which I thought were disturbing. I saw abortion as wrong and I still do. That said, I'm a man and since I'm never going to be pregnant I should have zero say what women do with their bodies. In the legal sense, I lack standing.

I came to the conclusion that people would do drugs and engage in homosexuality even if there were laws prohibiting them. And it's expensive to incarcerate offenders.

Also, I grew more tolerant of others. Live and let live. Let people choose the best way to live their own lives. I hate tattoos with a passion, but I shouldn't have a right to tell others that they should think like me.

I got as far as the first question, which says it is "loading". At first I agreed that it was loading, but after a couple of minutes changed my answer to uncertain, and after five settled on strongly disagree.

What the? How did I get Palpatine on every one of them? That isn't even supposed to be an option!

I thought some of the questions were difficult to answer honestly, either beause they addressed things wrong or did not provide quite the right answers, or demanded cut and dried answers to complex issues, but for the most part it seemed fairly reasonable. I came out as "social democracy."

Many loaded and/or undefined terms in the questions – rather frustrating. Still it pegged me more or less the same as similar questionnaires have.

Have you considered that they are written that way to produce that effect, and that effect and subsequent answer does a good job grouping you?

The problem with this survey is it just groups people into categories they already know. The good ones of these say something about yourself you haven't thought of before.
