Thats right. Two 13 year old boys could get prison time and be forever registered as sex offenders, for smacking the butts of teenage girls at school

This...is rediculous. The purpose of school..is to TEACH children how to properly behave in society. When we were all at school, many of us were harrassed, punched, kicked, etc. Was this behavior mean? Totally!!

Was it criminal? No.

Our society has gone a little nuts.
 
spanking...detention..forced to write a 10 page appology...it all sounds good.

but prison? declared sexual predators?....just insane.
 
It would seem that some members of our society have just COMPLETELY lost perspective.

It is the PC backlash. I tell my students that I find it funny how stuff that would have drawn little attention/or punishment when I was in elementary/high school can now get you jail time BUT stuff that would get you in lot's of trouble then would get you in very little, if any, trouble now. Life is entertaining.

I've been saying it for a long time, we need to start indoctrinating our children into homosexuality. This seems to be an appropriate start.

Though I personally would have sentenced them to a sex change.
 
Just to put a little argument there, none of us know if this was a 'slap' or a 'grope" and the girls involved did say they didn't want them doing it.

That said, the law's/schools' reaction is wildly overblown and I expect they will be released and some detention time will be served.

And oh yes, the lawyers will be circling...
 
Yes, yes, let us all pity the poor boys who are facing jail time and sexual assault charges for smacking girls on the butt. Let's all send our love and happy thoughts to those poor boys. Let's make sure that they recieve the smallest punishment posible for their actions. It's not like they hurt anyone, except for the victims, and who gives a (rule8) about them?

OK, I want everyone to imagine that they are a parent of a twelve year old girl. She comes home from school one day crying. You ask her what's wrong. She tells you that some boys were smacking her butt.

Now, I don't know about you, but I would be going ballistic. I think that many of you would be demanding that the full force of the law be brought to bear.

And WTF is up with the school? Kids are going around smacking each other on the butt like it was a handshake? Only, kids are getting confused and thinking this is a standard greeting and doing it to people who hate it? WTF?
 
I swear I have been reading too much stuff by conspiracists, Random, I almost thought you were serious for 95% of that post.

13 year old boys (having been one myself, albeit nearly 25 years ago) don't necessarily have the same understanding of appropriate behaviour, particularly when it comes to issues like 'is it OK to slap her butt'?

What they did is wrong. And the girls who possess the butts that were slapped are entitled to an apology and to be firm in the knowledge that their posteriors are safe from further slappage.

But - making two 13 year old boys SEX OFFENDERS over the incident??? This is like swatting a fly with an ICBM. Surely there is a more appropriate way to handle this case.

Its not like the two boys abducted the girls, tied them up a la Pulp Fiction with ball gags and subjected their behinds to hours of hand-slapping butt torture - THAT would be sexual assault, and worthy of serious criminal repercussions.

It was a butt-slap. Far from harmless, but far from a crime that should destroy their lives forever.

If I was treated as an adult for the stupid stuff I did when I was 13, I wouldn't be a productive taxpaying member of society - I'd STILL be in jail.

Sheesh. Get a grip people.
 
I AM SHOCKED that this happened on the left coast - that bastion of intelligence and common sense. No really! I fully expected when I clicked on the link to find out it was somewhere in Australia or something! Honest!!

Please...let's put them all out of our misery and just drop a few strategically place nukes out that way and make CA, OR, and WAS their own island....pretty please?
