One of my friends kept on asking me to be more aware of these number patterns, particularly 11:11. While browsing the internet today, I came across this website:

http://www.crystalinks.com/11.11.html

The brain processes through binary code - zeroes and ones that create patterns of experience and reality. 11 is part of that code... in this timeline associated with awakening the the nature of reality - who we are, why we are here and where it is all rapidly going. We exist in a consciousness computer simulation.”

Err…what? What about those other number patterns that people keep on seeing?:

2:23
3:33
4:44
5:55
666
606

Also, binary consists of 1 and 0. If our brain is really processing through binary code, then shouldn't we be seeing numbers such as 1:01, 10:10, 1:10 etc. instead of 11:11 or 1:11?

Bollocks.

People just remember the times when they looked at a digital clock and saw a particularly "interesting" combination of numbers, and forget the many more times they looked and didn't see one.

I know it's confirmation bias, but I'd swear that I see 12:34 more times on a clock than any other time of the day.

I also take notice when the till tots up something odd, like 5.55, or 3.33, wouldnt even think about it if it was 5.54 would I?

Actually, both 1010 and 1111 are numbers in base two. So we should be seeing both classes of numbers.

Of course the stuff is nonsense from top to bottom - from center to circumference.

We have a pattern seeking and recognizing brain that evolved to keep us alive.

When you are in flight or flight you see more patterns in random noise.

People who feel they have more control over their lives make less patterns out of random noise.

This talk is really, really, really good.

Don't fret! There are all sorts of deeper meanings behind these number patterns to be discovered on this page of their site: http://www.crystalinks.com/numerology4.html

Did you know that 22 is a Masonic number that represents practical idealism? Or that 33 represents Christ Consciousness?

And what the hell is this on about? "11+11=22=4=Time. 22 is a Master or Masonic Number. "

Nonsense through and through. The brain doesn't operate on binary code. And even if it did it'd be unlikely one of it's features would be to read random "binary code" in the environment as significant.

Interesting thought... would we still see this sort of confirmation bias if we had 6 fingers on each hand and 6 toes on each foot? Would our counting system still be base 10?

This morning, at the newsagents, the till totted up £6.66. We (the guy behind the counter and me) had a smile about that.

Yes, I know it should be 6.16, but what the heck.

For data which obey Benford's Law the other patterns are less likely.

I once printed something and the bubble appeared at the bottom of the screen saying that it happened at 1:23:45.

I took a screen capture but I don't have that anymore.
