I've been taken to task about my opinion that waterboarding is not torture. I came to that conclusion for two reasons it does not leave permanent scars and no physical impairment.
Ok I stand corrected. Jesse Ventura says it is and he should know.

One person here...
This is to me absolutely unbelievable even knowing his track record. He is declaring that the USA would in fact become a rouge state if he was President and gets the "policies" he wants through the legislate.
"Even if it doesn't work they deserve it"
I think at this point she's just trolling John McCain for the lulz.
Nice. It's a helpful reminder of what a bullet we dodged when we elected Obama over a guy who would nominate this horrible woman to take over the country should he die in office.
The location of Osama bin Laden was determined by following a specific message courier. The name of that specific courier was obtained by the means of torture. A central talking point of Liberals and the Democratic party is that torture does not work and is incontrovertibly immoral. Do the ends...
Someone suggested that an answer in another thread might be considered off-topic by moderators... so I will bring it up here.
Let's get something out in the open--people here that think that waterboarding should be performed in some circumstances... are you willing to say that it could be...
I have heard claims that enhanced interrogation techniques, particularly waterboarding (possibly of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed specifically) led either directly or indirectly to the finding and killing of Osama Bin Laden. However, most of these claims i hear are from conservative media figures and...
So, do you think the ends justified the means?
I've always though torture to be cruel and evil and requires oversight to be sure, but I've also stood by the fact that it works no matter how evil it is.
Does this validate torture? Nope, and torture never needed validation to begin with...
'...In his first major interview since leaving office, former president George W. Bush defended the most controversial aspects of his tenure - including the use of waterboarding against terrorism suspects and the invasion of Iraq. ...'

Apparently he believed his girlfriend was cheating on him, so he:
Think he can get off by saying he was just using "enhanced interrogation techniques"?
:duck:
This past Sunday, former VP Dick Cheney admitted to war crimes in an interview:
Other supporters of waterboarding include the Spanish Inquisition, the Gestapo, and the Khmer Rouge. After World War II, we convicted Japanese soldiers for war crimes for waterboarding American POWs.
By affirming...
In various water-boarding threads, the pro-boarders have all but admitted that water-boarding is torture. Most of them have brought up effectiveness and efficiency as part of their argument as to why it's ok to do, thus evading the actual argument as to whether it's torture or not.
However...
So in contrast to that conservative idol coward Hannity, Mancow actually tried out how it does feel to get waterboarded [Hint: Before it he thought it's no big deal] :

[While I don't see why it should be a NSFW-tagged video, I appreciate if a Mod/Admin add's a Tag or sends me a PM...
There is no written version of this CNN-Report yet, but even if we heard of all the torture methods beyond waterboarding in the past in occasional reports, a full scale discussion about all those other methods didn't emerge yet. If it does, it might be the final blow to the GOP...
Anybody catch her deer-in-the-headlights press conference today, where she accused the CIA of lying to her?
The money clip is where she wants to reiterate what she was told, but won't do it without looking at her notes to make sure she gets the wording exactly right; that's already hitting...
I've heard/read people saying the U.S. has never tortured. I don't know if I believe this. I'm referring to "approved" torture, not the random, in-the-field torturing that I've seen in at least one video clip of waterboarding from Viet Nam. What do we really know about the history of torture as...

Anyone think he will actually go through with this? Promising to do it for the soldiers family's makes it hard for him to go back on it.
Out of interest, has anyone here got anyone to waterboard them, or tried it...
CIA Confirms: Waterboarding 9/11 Mastermind Led to Info that Aborted 9/11-Style Attack on Los Angeles
----------
The Central Intelligence Agency told CNSNews.com today that it stands by the assertion made in a May 30, 2005 Justice Department memo that the use of “enhanced techniques” of...
So Cheney admits to approving it for KSM. If we had Japanese leaders executed for this action as a warcrime, are we now saying that it is no longer a war crime? Or just one that we, the US, are only allowed to use? Thoughts?
I found it rather odd that no one started a thread on this subject since the issue of the USA engaging in torture has come up so many times in JREF, so here goes ...
Ending at least a few years of speculation and quite a few denials from the Bush Administration, the CIA has finally admitted...
I am against torture. I am against beating a man senseless just cause he is an enemy. I am against causing someone terribly physical pain just to attempt to get information.
But waterboarding is simulated drowning. No one drowns or dies from waterboarding.
The point of waterboarding is to...
The AG nomine responded to Congress today that he will study waterboarding to determine if it is torture, thus un-Constitutional, and if it is torture, un-Constitutional and therefore illegal, he will reverse any DOJ directives/memos that allow it.
Wow. Such grand waffling, it seems to me...
Brian Ross, investigative reporter at ABC, has a post detailing the means
the CIA used to break the 9/11 mastermind, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, to get
him to spill his guts about the 9/11 and other plots. The method used was
waterboarding - strapping the prisoner to a board upside down and...
