Not sure if this belongs in U.S. Politics, Pseudoscience or Medicine Forum but Dr. Oz attempted to medsplain to the empty suits and dresses at Fox attempting to pile on Bernie Sanders and they shut that thang right down.
On MSNBC this morning two Senators said that their constituents indicate they believe they will have to endure slightly longer lines in hospitals and other medical facilities if the currently uninsured 40 million Americans are given coverage through subsidized policies. And because of that they...
Came across this interesting Fox News piece praising Israel for its contributions to medical science and the fact that it is a world leader in various medical techniques:

But wait a minute...
Lay it out here. Why should we continue to allow millions to be uninsured (people such as myself). Why should we continue to allow those that are insured to die because their private insurer found some loophole.
Here is where you can give out your reasons and your alternatives.
I'm going to lose money for any for profit insurance company. So really only some sort of universal plan would allow me to be covered. And there are lots of other people just like me out there.
So under what conditions would you allow that to happen?

Lucky for Mr. Hughes, he just happened to be close friends with several multi-millionaires. This is all well and good for the Greatest Health Care System in the World, YO! But in reality, in what screwed...
I noticed this in the "unconscionable maths" article, and it got me thinking.
I don't imagine there's anyone left who believes that every individual, or even every family, should pay personally, out of pocket, for all the healthcare they consume. Bills of tens of thousands of dollars...
If you add up all the private Health Insurance company's rejection rate (Blue cross Blue Shield, Aetna, etc.) it is much less than what Medicare/Medicaid rejects.
If we go to Universal Health Insurance, why would you expect it to improve?
Wildcat has posted his views on health care reform in numerous threads, and I'd like to see some debate on its merits.
They are:
I think it's a damn good idea myself, for a number of reasons. Everyone is covered, and no one can be denied. Getting health care out of employers hands benefits...
(Please forgive me if the following posts lacks coherency; I've been drinking a bit.)
I've long considered myself a libertarian (emphasis little "l") and thus have been opposed to UHC on ideological grounds. I've recently seen the error of my ways, much through the help of this forum. I now...
I keep hearing people frothing about how UHC would take away "our freedom" and how Obama and the Democrats want UHC so that they can "restrict our freedoms", and on and on and so forth.
But what freedom exactly is it that people are talking about? I've been in the workforce for 17 years and not...
All I know about Israel's universal health care system I learned from Wikipedia - and according to Wiki, they seem to have a pretty good one, even if WHO's ranking of their UHC-system does not seem to be a matter of euphoria.
However, I never saw one single Conservative claiming that Israel's...
I'd like to discuss this point specifically.
Beerina has stated in many threads about universal healthcare that it is anathema because it will inevitably slow down the advance of medical technology. I've noticed such posts in threads dating back to 2007. He seldom (and now never) returns to...

They have routine colonoscopies in the US to detect bowel cancer, whereas the NHS uses a FOB test with colonoscopies on those with abnormal results.

If you have a few moments, take some time to watch this interview with Wendell Potter, former VP of health insurance firm...
So apparently the single-payer healthcare system doesn't get any attention in high level talks about the future of healthcare in the US. Obama [despite being for single-payer for years] said something along the line that it wouldn't work because of the mixed and historical system in the US...
It seems to me the debate is always between the US method vs. the method in the UK and Canada when it comes to the health care debate. I have what I believe is a solution that offers the best of both worlds, and none of the worst.
First of all, what is the total cost of health care per capita...
Helllooooooooo JREF!!!! I started this thread with the hope of brainstorming some ideas that might help reduce the cost of health care spending in the U.S. The only catch is that is needs to be reduced without switching to a Universal Health Care system.
This Stossel video has some good ideas...
I'm not sure whether this needs to go into this area, or Politics, so I'll start here.
In all the discussions of the muddle which is the American healthcare system, I don't hear anyone talking about the real problem. Quite simply, there are more people who would like to see nurses / see...
Linky
But we have teh best healthcare in the world!!
Clearly the solution is to let the free market take its course and get rid of government regulations like all those countries did...
Glenn Becks article about the 53 trillion Dollar Social Security asteroid certainly is an interesting read, but those numbers sound a little bit exaggerated:
Glenn Beck: The $53 trillion asteroid
So what are the factual numbers?
Ha, I posted my educated, well thought out, researched theory in the London car bomb thread, and then Fox News takes credit for my idea!

And I see they used that damn question mark again...

Medicare For All - The Kucinichian Proposal
Awesome!
Kill the bureaucracy by using the power the government.
Why didn't I think of that?
Actually a democrat that knows about the common problems faced by ordinary working
people qualifies as a...
