I'm wondering why the media isn't talking about how Russia's actions have pretty much KILLED nuclear non-proliferation around the world. After what Russia has done and is doing, no nation will ever again give up their nukes or nuclear ambitions.
In 1994, Russia committed to respect Ukrainian...
Was listening to NPR's show where they discussed nuclear weapons.
The question I want to present to those who want to maintain a nuclear stockpile is: which non-nuclear nations around the world SHOULD acquire nuclear weapons?
Although many of them have signed treaties that they wouldn't...
Link.
First, I don't buy it. This is not a "breakthrough" until inspectors show up, and genuine changes begin. Presently, North Korea uses CANDU reactors which produce enriched plutonium, (IIRC: If someone has better info, please post it.) There's no guarantee that DPRK will actually open...
So sayeth the BBC. As a reward, Best Korea gets a food aid package from the US.
I know North Korea has a long history of saying one thing and doing another, but I have a hard time seeing how this is not a good thing. I hope it's a sign that the new leadership is about to turn a new page in...
Would the GOP actually go so far as to endanger the world's safety from a nuclear Holocaust, by refusing to approve the new Start nuclear weapons treaty with Russia, just to keep a victory from Obama?
I'd hate to see this happen, but I think some GOPers are that hateful, calculating, selfish...
The people wetting themselves over at the BA blog over Starfish Prime has gotten me wondering: was the Nuclear Test Ban Treaty a prudent measure or a hasty overreaction? Certainly a nuclear test done badly was potentially extremely dangerous but, then again, so is TNT. But TNT is useful and so...
'...One of the elements that contributed to the phased approach "was the realisation that if Iran were actually to launch a missile attack on Europe, it wouldn't be just one or two missiles or a handful," Gates told the hearing.
Iran says its nuclear programme is aimed solely at peaceful energy...

I'm sorry but I don't know what to say about this. Except this could be seen to be an aggressive action to Russia.
Sorry for not reading anything what was said afore in this thread.
(Unlike some others, at least I confess it.)
The defence of Finland against Russia is heavily based on land mines. For this reason Finland has not signed the anti-land-mine treaty, and never will until there is political will to...

It appears we're a few days away from what could be a monumental agreement with Iran. If they officially agree, they'll basically be agreeing to allow the nuclear material they have be sent to Russia and France to be enriched and manufactured...
Magic.
We need to think up a name for this Obama bloke - along the lines of "the Great", as in Alexander, Catherine and a few others.
"God" has already been taken.
Obama the Magnificent?

This Communist actually wants to rid the world of nuclear weapons??
What is wrong with this guy?
The more nukes we have, the brighter we can make the USSR and Nazi Germany and the Ottoman Empire glow in the dark.
We need MORE...
It would seem that Ms Rice is in India to further cement US ties and to promote US business interests in India, in particular nuclear power. There is nothing wrong with this but India has never signed the non-proliferation treaty. Might this not be read as double standards?
Actually, I wasn't...

One more step in the right direction. I think I can predict NK will try to stall for time again, but it's facing up to the inevitable, I think.
Someone posted this on another site...
Like you might have guessed, we were talking about Iran being in the process of getting nukes, and what they would do with them.
Discuss...specifically what the quote says.
I have never heard such an idea. It's my own patented idea.
In light of the fact that the world knows we have thousands, and yet we won't let Iran or North Korea even have *ONE*...even though we are the country to use 2 of them, and we have no *proof* that they'd use *one* against us or anyone...
So, there are claims North Korea has nukes, that Iran is just about to develop them, and the US has just blown multiple billions on the place that didn't have them. Go figga.
