From the CNN story:
My thinking is that even if he did fire 2 people recently, if the law requires a confidence vote, he'll simply "un-fire" one of them to weasel out of it.
On the other hand, he might also twist a few arms and run the vote to go his way which would help him get a bit of...
Although you may have missed it thanks to the round-the-clock coverage of Michael Jackson's corpse, the Iranian rebellion (I don't think you can call it any less) is ongoing, and seems to be heating up.

Guardian Council Rejects Plea to Annul Vote
Amazing. There is now the proverbial "smoking gun" evidence that there was massive fraud in Iran's election, by the Guardian Council's own admission that "the ballots recorded in 50 cities exceeded the number of eligible voters by a total of three...

In the compromised democratic system of Iran, it's good to see that a more moderate leader could still come to power. Iran needs it, as does the Middle East.
Woohoo! I hope the debates will be translated so I can watch them as eagerly as I watched the American presidential debates. It's one of the rare chances to get some deeper insight about what the current domestic Issues are in Iran. And I already suspect that Israel is one of the least debated...
