Quick note - the problem with Youtube videos not embedding on the forum appears to have been fixed, thanks to ZiprHead. If you do still see problems let me know.
I was wondering: Is there an evolutionary reason why we like music? Did people that liked the way certain sounds were put together somehow have an advantage? Why exactly do we like music? Anyone who's played an instrument (or anyone else for that matter) can tell when a song or note is out...
The other thread got me to thinking about how humanity has evolved, and wondering whether our rapid increase in medical knowledge is going to cause evolution to slow down or stop to some degree?
In other words, "survival of the fittest" no longer applies, since we are able to medically help...
Self explanatory.
Do people think everything evolves? Not just biological life, but the universe, the laws that govern it, the shape of the universe, etc. ?

I'm sure this question has been asked before, but oh well.
Why does anything evolve from it's present state? When single cells were the first life, and still exist by the trilllions all around us, why did anything become more complex?
"Survival" is not a reason. Microbes/amoeba exist in...
Someone has probably thought of this question before but I'm interested in knowing at what point in human evolution the soul appeared.
As far as I'm aware, most philosophies/religions (apart from the reincarnation crowd) indicate that humans are special among all life because man has an...
