Quick note - the problem with Youtube videos not embedding on the forum appears to have been fixed, thanks to ZiprHead. If you do still see problems let me know.
The other day I was on the subway and this very brutish black woman got on the train. Her size and her demeanor really seemed "apelike" to me. I was shocked that this thought so casually skipped through my mind. I certainly don't like that it did and of course it was racist. I apologize...
Well, at least that is one of the claims in the book "I Don't Have Enough Faith to be an Atheist" by Norman Geisler and Frank Turek. Many of you should know of this book as it is the focus of my Evidence thread in the History Forum. The book says this on page 129.
"...if materialism is true...
In another thread Baby Nemesis links to the article “Insufficient Evidence at Hand for Darwinism” by this apparent advocate of ID, Stephen A. Batzer, Ph.D., P.E., who does not seem to know an awful lot about evolution and biology.
Since he might be on his way to creationist fame – other websites...
Are any of the Darwinists here pro-eugenics, like in the eugenics program ideas of the late 1800s - 1930s, and would still like to implement them today?

Here are some interesting quotes re: evolution that supposedly took place at some type of conferences, starting in the late 60s:

Here's the type of thinking I deal with most of the time. It's a letter to the editor of a Casper, Wyoming newspaper:
The link may be found here, but I'm not sure how long the link will stay up.
There is going to be a debate at my university here in Norway, with a Paul A. Nelson from the Discovery Institute, and on the other side of the table professor Bernt Walther from the dep. of Molecular Biology.
Here is the intro:
There was also a netmeeting with Nelson in the newspaper...
I recieved this private message on another board:
It's perfectly fine what ever anyone wants to believe. We all have that right. But you need to know that Darwinism is the foundational belief in humanism, secularism, atheism whatever you want to call it. To try to harmonize evolution with...
I suppose that it is time for me step into the fire myself, and test the theories I hold to be true against public scorn and criticism. I would consider my self a Social Darwinist, in the sense that a significant part of human intelligence and personality is genetic rather than environmental...
Has anyone else read this?
"Creation and Evolution in the Schools"
http://www.ornery.org/essays/warwatch/2006-01-08-1.html
Card misstates the position of evolutionary science and then offers counter-arguments to his misstatements.
I guess it's pretty easy to win a debate when you get to...
Hello,
I have been invited to attend a seminar tomorrow where a person is going to argue that Darwinism and Intelligent design are both unscientific. He will argue for a combination of Darwinism, ID, and Sir Fred Hoyle's proposition (whatever that is).
Anyone know anything about this issue...
Apologies if this has been posted before, I ran a search and did not turn anything up, but I admit I'm tired and subsequently lazy. :D
This sounds like utter and complete bunk, but there was an article on Nature.com called "Natural selection acts on the quantum world" written by physicist...
I was just thinking a few hours ago, what was the mechanism that allowed new variety in organisms when Darwin first published Origin of Species? He got the Natural Selection part right but what was the 'genetic mutation, crossing over etc.' of his day? He didn't know these things.
I had this discussion with my friends about whether we are just puppets of our genes or not.
I argued that people unconsciously do all the things they do in life with the ultimate goal of reproducing.
You like to be surrounded by friends. Such a thing happens because once there were people who...
