If I buy land here in America, I still have to pay for it every year. Is there any countries where if I buy some land I can own it completely? Or is America as close as it gets?

Nothing pushes my buttons like this statement. Whenever I hear someone say this or make some kind of argument along these lines...my blood pressure just goes SKY HIGH. It's so incredibly ignorant and against everything the whole country was founded upon. Does anyone get exceptionally irritated...

Just what the title says. I used to think it was common knowledge and fully reasonable to think that the United States was the best country in the world, looking around, I'm not so sure anymore. If your best country is one other than the US, please state why.
