Do so few people realize that Camping (and all big-money church leaders, really) is living the life on the back of the taxpayer? To me, this is one of the most outrageous aspects of religion as a business.
Unless I'm misunderstanding the situation: the church pays no tax, the bleever gives...
So I'm driving to work, as usual, and pass the church with the usually-smarmy greeting sign on it. Last week it was "The beauty of nature is God's greeting card"- something I can easily imagine written on a picture of a vulture eating a dead child.
This week, it's "Science teacher unearths...
I was just wondering if Sylvia Browne has ever stated where she got the "Novus Spiritus" for the name of her church. Has she ever claimed that it came from a divine source (ie "My spirit guide, Frances, told me to name it that!") or anything of the like?
In Latin, doesn't the adjective come...
I'm a little puzzled.
Exodus 20:4,5 states
So does this mean "No statues" or just "no statues that aren't god / JC / the holy spirit"?
I suppose Roman Catholics would claim they don't actually bow down before statues of Mary and the Saints, but they do seem to give them nod. How do they get...
A megachurch in Georgia got a major whammie from a sex scandal:

And it isn't the only affair:
But the members have learned something from all of this:
This is one of the worst scandals I can remember hearing about. I hope it gets plenty of press.
I used to be a Christian, and now I lean towards the non-existence of my eternal big-brother. However, I still don't drink alcohol, due to a variety of reasons that go well beyond religion. (It's not that I have a problem with other people drinking, I'm just not going to partake of it myself.)...
I went to church this weekend, at a place called the Church in Baton Rouge. Apparently, this is the "real" church. It was a group of ~40 people altogether. I have reproduced the experience here.
I apologize for the length of this post, but I feel that this is instructive in the fact that...
The headline has been edited a little, as I didn't think it would be appropriate for the thread header. You'll see why:

A church in Missouri is featuring a haunted-house type alternative, featuring walk-through scenes depicting the horrors of drugs, alcohol, abortion, self-mutilation.
Fun for the whole family!

Note: I was unsure if putting this post in Politics was the best choice, It has to do with governmental policies so I suppose this is appropriate
The Church enjoys a free ride, no matter how big the church is or how fat their coffers get they do not have to so much as report the amount of money...
Yeah, I'm sure that only believers will be going to this church:

Given that we're now aiming at exposing the nonsense of high-profile people in the media making outrageous supernatural claims, I think we should be going after this guy.
Joe Ratzinger
He's the head of a cult that makes some spectacular claims, and apparently while in office the guy even has...
Well, ok. What he says is that any church defined through the claims of the papacy is no true church.
MSNBC story.
I thought that I would actually go to the source to see what he said. From Rev. Mohler's blog (relevant part roughly 1/2-way down page):
Thoughts?
Not sure if this was posted yet, but here goes:
An all white congregation in North Carolina decided to 'honor' Black music by dressing in overalls, and putting on blackface makeup. For the whole story, here's the link...
I was raised by largely irreligious parents who believed that the church had an important role to play in the moral development of their children, regardless of whether Christianity was an objective reality or just a collection of parables.
I'm 36 now, and have all kinds of rational materialist...
Hi everyone,
My name is Rob, I'm from the UK, and I'm quite new here. I know I should
post something in the introductions thread but I wanted to get this up as soon as possible so you could all comment on it.
I have for various reasons recently been going to a church here in the UK (City...

I interviewed this week a member of the Raëlian Church, the cultist group who believe that extraterrestrial created man (ID but with ET instead of God). She saw a couple of ufos...
Well, in my interview, I have this question:
