It turns out that Joe the Plumber isn't a licensed plumber and his first name isn't Joe, it's Sam. Interestingly enough, his last name is misspelled on his voter registration card, so hopefully he will be one of the voters purged from the Ohio voter rolls. Even more ironically, “Joe”...
