Hello all, I am looking for a bit of advice with my broadband.
The situation is thus:
I live in a house share and the BT line is not currently connect AFAIK. Had a BeBox that seemed to be working irrespective of this. (I though a working phone line would be required for ASDL - perhaps it is...
One of my naighbours would like to share my wireless broadband connection. However, the thick granite walls of our houses block any wireless connection.
Is it possible to run some sort of cabling from my router through to her house so that she can have wifi inside her house? (She's disabled and...
I have an ADSL broadband connection which has been having occasional drop outs in the last week. I realised these had only started happening since I'd installed two new fluorescent lights in the loft. Amazingly, a bit of experimentation today has shown that it is indeed these new lights which is...
I ran across this the other day:

Looks like there's a few other related videos as well.
It might be a nice thing to show someone who'll only watch television to get their information.
EDIT: These identical threads are...
LONDON -- Telecom giant Inmarsat is weeks away from launching the second in a series of two super-satellites -- designed to be among the most powerful commercial communications spacecraft in orbit -- that will beam broadband data and voice services to almost any location on the planet.

Well, today I finally got myself a broadband connection to the Internet, via Comcast. I have to admit that it is pretty farking cool. It is good to join the late 20th Century, and only a few years into the 21st.
It was fun to set up, because we ran thinwire Ethernet cable through the house in...
Hi all
Our villiage ( out in the sticks of the UK) has just got broadband.
The thing is I have no real understaning of how broadband works other than it is very fast and can enable me to down load music quickly, which I want.
I have two BT telephone lines. Line one, in the kitchen, is my...
So, Im thinking of dragging my arse into the 21st century and finally getting broadband.
I have two options-
1. 1Mb with a 2Gig per month limit.
2. 512Kb with no limit.
So which is the best? They are the same price- How much slower is 512 in practice and how much can you do with 2Gigs a...
Hello again.
Is there any company other than AOL or NTL offering broadband service with an NTL cable?
We currently use AOL but my dad is slowly having his eyes opened as to why it's not very good, and (apparently) the NTL service is reputed to be pretty bad.
Thanks for any advice.
Is it worth it? Is the service reliable?
Should I get it instead of dialup?
For Canadians, anyone know if Rogers (or someone else) is better?
Thanks so much
I'm fed up with Freeserve pay-as-you-go dropping connections and taking years to download. I've decided to spend some dosh on a broadband link. I need some advice.
I intend to use a router modem, which I will buy myself.
I have a BT line, rated OK for broadband by them. Whether this is ADSL or...
