General UK politics VIII - The Last Tory

Sir Michael Take CBE
@MichaelTakeMP
Apart from
Imposing tariffs on us
Meddling in our politics
Suing the BBC
Slagging off our troops in Afghanistan
Being an alleged paedophile
& starting WW3
Pres. Trump is a great ally & Keir Starmer SHOULD start acting like a snivelling ◊◊◊◊ & support him.
SORT IT OUT STARMER!

We should be Trump's bitch apparently.

'America is questioning our loyalty...and we are going to be suffering far more than the US economy.'

'We should have been all in with the President', says @Jeremy_Hunt, as he explains the issue with Keir Starmer's 'failure of leadership' on Iran.

So Jeremy, is it your position that on 03/09/1939 that the UK should have also sided with the illegall aggressor?

Apologies for returning to a story from nearly a year ago but IPSO have concluded their investigation into this story and found that the Daily Telegraph made it all up.

Copy of the full IPSO adjudication here : https://www.ipso.co.uk/rulings/02104-25/
To illustrate the usefulness of IPSO, this ruling happened roughly a year after the Torygraph and the alleged author were embarrassed into putting their hands up and admitting the story was faked.

Here's today's thing that never happened.

Just heard from a taxi driver how @JeremyVineOn5 cycled up to his cab at a traffic light and filmed him with his camera and then reported him to police. Taxi driver got a 6 points and a 500 pound fine. What a nasty thing to do -taxi wasn’t moving and as soon as it moved he would have stopped talking on his phone. Vine should start reporting cyclists rushing through red lights if he wants to play tell tale.

Our bases are under attack.

British citizens are in danger across the Middle East.

Our allies are removing a regime responsible for planning 20 lethal attacks on Britain.

And this is the Government's response.

We have to act in our national interest.

Yes Bad Enough some UK citizens are in danger because of an illegal war started by the genocidal Israeli regime and its lapdogs in the US.

Others are tax cheats and should be left there until they pay their back taxes.

Well, ohms already said it was a year later.

The journalist named on the byline did write the story, but, according to an article in Private Eye at the time, she was given the details by the paper, and was just writing it up for them. The picture desk added the stock photos. No details have yet emerged, as far as I know, about where the story originated. (Looks to me like they got caught by someone submitting satire.)

To be fair it could have happened, police will prosecute based on video evidence of people using phones while driving, CyclingMikey does it all the time and Jeremy Vine is a bit of a 'militant cyclist'. But drivers, and especially professional drivers, should be well aware that using your phone hand held while driving is against the law and will get you a fine and points. It's hardly a new law that's been quietly smuggled in.

Jeremy Vine has reposted the tweet, but not, as far as I could spot, commented. I thought he'd stopped doing the cycling videos, after having a bike stolen (I think), so it might have been a while ago that it happened.

Depressingly I heard a load of crap from someone walking their dog with my regular group this morning, apparently there is no way they could vote Tory next time because of the leader, so they'll be forced to vote for Reform....

Nothing ever changes:

If you are a guest in our country, then you must support yourself and your family. If you cannot do that, then you must leave.

Restore Britain's plan for welfare is ruthless.

Good. It's needed.

Apparently Donald announcing the USA will cover any losses if a ship gets sunk in the Straits is a huge defeat and humiliation for Starmer.
It means Lloyds are finished as the main insurers for worldwide shipping.

It seems to be one of today's Gammon outrages and MAGA victories for the USA.

They all fail to realise Lloyd isn't like their household insurance. it is a global marketplace for insurers.
The fact that nobody is prepared to underwrite cover for ships in the Straits of Hormuz tells you it's considered an unacceptable risk.
Instead the US taxpayer is going to cover it.
But sure, let's blame Starmer

Examples

It means billions of dollars in insurance premiums at wartime rates going to America instead of the UK. And those rates are STILL going to be cheaper than what shippers were getting in peacetime

Trump doing this means the USA has the chance to replace Lloyd's as the big dog in this game,

In the game of “Make America Great Again chess”, President Trump just checkmated Starmer.

Looks like this was a serious miscalculation. It gave Trump a huge opportunity to seize control of the world economy back from the City of London, and he didn't miss a beat.

So long Lloyds of London.

Trump has ordered the US to provide government backed political risk insurance and, if necessary, escort tankers with the US Navy.

He is directly stabilising energy flows, ensuring global markets keep moving, and taken business away from an area dominated by London marine insurers.

Britain could have done this, except Starmer didn’t notice and er … we only have about one working ship in our navy.

Reform Ltd hold a press conference to announce two 'big name defections', former mayor of Newham Sir Robin Wales and ex-councillor Clive Furness. Furness evidently doesn't actually know which party he's joined as he called it "Respect", you can hear it in clips, but none of the print media seem to be mentioning it in their online reporting.
