Why Do YOU hate Jesus Christ?

btw...i certainly don't hate jesus...he was a groovy guy.
it's many of his hypocritical followers that i dislike.

If the writings we're left with are what he actually said he reminds me of any run of the mill egotistical cult leader:

Matthew 10:37 said:
He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.

I don't respect people like that let alone admire them. To each their own I guess.

Or even more extreme:

Luke 14:26 "If anyone comes to me and does not hate his father and mother, his wife and children, his brothers and sisters--yes, even his own life--he cannot be my disciple.

So I finally get this thread.

We are being asked why we don't hate our families.

A much easier question to answer.

All your talk of Christians, of fundamentalists, of right-wing extremists, of X-ians, whatever...
Spill it. Nothing else matters. It's all diversions and justifications
for your rejection of Jesus Christ.
Just admit it.
Be bold. Be open. Be brazen.
I can only thank Jesus.
What about you and your heart?

I, for one, do not hate jesus and/or Christianity. I simply dislike and dismiss it for the unnatural behaviour and thought the adherent of the religion must maintain and spread.

I also imply that all events which happen just are without any divine intervention of "masterplan". Every action I take and every fruit I harvest from that action is a result of my doing. I do not need to thank a deceased person or an imaginary concept for the work I had and the results it carried.

I simply do not need Jesus. Or better yet: I do not need any prophet or "spiritual guide" for the obvious reason given in my 2nd paragraph.

What I do hate on the other hand are people who rip parts of text out of their context to fill in their own agenda. People that pull on a badge without knowing what it actually means or what it represents. People who try to push other people into a box which does not fit and has been created by the hypocrit and ignorant mind. I also hate really lazy people, I hate parasitic people, I hate drama queens, I hate big-mouthed ******** and I hate blatant stupidity (which is about 3/4 of the world in my point of view). Sadly enough, most of the religionists tend to be such kind of people. But in all fairness, there are quite a few atheists and "skeptics" who tend to act in such ways also.

Of course the main problem is we don't even know if Jesus actually said that. At best the Gospels were written many years (if not a full century) after the events in question. More over even Paul in 2 Corinthians 11:4 admitted even at that early date there were "other" Jesus talked about in "other" Gospels. What we have is what one sect thought was valid in the 4th century

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved."

Jesus Christ is hope, for whosoever.

So God sent himself to save us from himself after creating us himself.

I understand the historical context where ignorant bronze-age goat herders accepted the idea you had to sacrifice to God. Except the sacrifice went to the rich temple priests, the money changers, the guys selling the sacrificial animals etc.

So the idea with Jesus Christ was to end all that obligation to pay the man, pay the man, pay the man.

But I'm not an ignorant goat herder with superstitious beliefs. And my study of early Christianity has determined no Jesus of the Gospels ever walked the earth. By the time Emperor Constantine called the Council of Nicea in 325, Christianity bore very little resemblamce to the first Christians who had no earthly Jesus in their theology.

Reading about Constantine is pretty eye opening. Not the most sterling of characters, but his impact on history is among the greatest.

yes, and it is amazing how ignorant Christians are of their own history, this period being the most critical for state control.

The New Testament was state-controlled religion. So wanting separation of church and state so you can follow the bible is the supreme irony.

I hate Jesus in the same way I hate Harry Potter.

Too much derivative work and too much deus ex machina for it to be in any way a satisfying fantasy work.

(ETA- Wow, proper zombie!)

As I have likely pointed out here someowhere before: I do not spend time or energy hating non-existent/mythological creatures/persons. I do spend time hating and working against those who try to use the fear of same to control/influence others. I do not care if you believe in and worship the god of maiming for small sins - as long as you do not maim anyone and you do not try to convince others to. Beliefs mean crap so I do not care what you choose to believe/actions need to be halted. With extreme prejudice.

I view Jesus the same way I view Joe Camel, I might not like the product he's being used to sell and I don't think it should be advertised to children but there's no point hating a marketing mascot.

I can't really hate fictional characters. Certainly not as much as I hate thread necromancers.

Because he's all I had in the fridge last night.

Oh, sorry. "Hate." Misread that.

I don't hate Jesus but after that long torrid night he never calls and I fear he doesn't respect me anymore.:(

I don't hate him, I just don't believe he was a god.

Turning Jesus into an all-merciful god pretty much takes the wind out of the many excellent lessons he's credited with teaching about the way we ought to live our lives.

If he's a god, then he's by nature perfection incarnate.

Therefore, we imperfect humans have a great excuse for not actually living by his example. After all, how can you expect a mere mortal to live up to the standards of a god?

Furthermore, if God is all-forgiving of our sins as long as all we do is believe, then that pretty much cinches it: you can be as big of a prick as you want throughout your life, so long as you repent your sins and keep faith that Jesus is God.

It's basically a recipe for self-righteous tyranny, built upon the appeal of a lovely-sounding doctrine of peace, love and forgiveness that can be safely ignored at one's own convenience.
